Hey guys,

Here is were us Mods can discuss the group together.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Soooo....I was thinking about an A-Z challenge. Time frame would be a year. Read one book for every letter of the alphabet. Points could be used for example complete the whole alphabet 100 points...75% 70 points...so on and so forth...let me know what you guys think

Natalie (nsmiles29) I like the A-Z challenge idea. Challenges are fun!

Also, thanks for letting me join you! I'm excited to help out. I just spent a bit exploring the group and trying to get oriented. :)

Ya I think that could work. I know personally I don't think I'd be able to finish that challenge in a year due to lack of time. But most people should get close.
And I think that points system would work well for that challenge, and it'll give the people who don't think they can finish incentive to join anyway cause they could still get some points.

And you don't have to thank us! We're glad you join, and I know I could definitely use the help.

Ideas To Discuss

1. Theme ideas for monthly group reads

For march because it was a little last minute I just picked a theme. It was Green for St. Patrick's Day.

But I'd like to compose a list of themes for people to vote for. That way everyone in the group has some input into the type of books being nominated.

So any theme ideas?

2. YA vs non-YA Group Reads

Another thing I was wondering is with the group reads, should we try maybe having one YA group read and one non-YA each month.

I want the group to be oriented to all ages and I know that the older ones won't want to read the YA books and vise versa.

What do you all think?

3. Challenges

Some of the members brought it to my attention that they want to try some medium length challenges, so a few months long.

I added one recently which will state soon, seasonal challenge.

Do you guys have any ideas?

4. Tracking Member Activity

We need think of some way to keep track of which members are active in the group and which are now.

May...Well...nothing happens in May...We celebrate Victoria Day here in Canada...we call it May 2-4 and most of us go camping or have a party...but not everyone does that!! I really don't know what everyone else does in May...It's the official month to start working in Gardens...maybe a flower theme...

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

As for the Newletter...we could just make a point of reminding everyone about the group reads for the month...also we could do an update of who is in the lead for points...an update of what is new to the site...stuff like that??

Themes:
I think we should get a short list of themes and make a poll. The top theme will be the one for May. It doesn't have to be specifically related to that month either, just what the group wants to read.

News letter:
Ya I want to start with the points. I kind of did but not many members have any yet.

Have anything else important that we need to discuss?

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

We should get those other challenges started

Are you finished with the a-z challenge?

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I am done...but Ii can't make it as pretty as u!

We need to add up comment points for march...want me to do that?

message 20: by Heather B, Your Moderator (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) | 1345 comments Mod
How should we do that. We didn't take down everyone's count before March started /:

I think we need a system for that.

And if you want you can inbox me what you have and I can post it for you for the challenge.

Also since I am not getting input from the group why don't you and I make a short list of themes to vote on for May.

Some ideas:
- May Flowers
- Spring
- Short stories

What others do you think? It doesn't have to be month related.

What would you think about trying to get the books picked for the group reads a month ahead? That way people have lots of time to get the book if they'd like to.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

For the points, I was going to write everyone's name down and go through all the sections and ad keep track of how many times people have posted comments.

I love the idea about choosing the books a month ahead.

What about reading a classic in May.

I think that is all my brain can handle right now...318 am here and I don't know why I am awake.

Okay, so for May's theme we will vote on the following:

- May Flowers
- Spring
- Short stories
- Mothers day
- Classics

I'll ask everyone for suggestions for June now too so that we can get a head start on things.

And we can do that for points. Also, if you go into the members section of the group it tells you each members comment #. That might be an easier way of tracking things. We could divide it alphabetically between the two of us and each person can track half and we will post the points in the group.

Hey,

So now that we have gotten rid of a lot of inactive members, I think we really need some new people in the group. Is there any way that you can think of for getting people to join the group?
