No, the Baskerville curse isn't genetic. It has to do with the legend that a mysterious, supernatural huge ravening hound functions as a nemesis for members of the family, wanting to pursue and kill them out on the moor, where "...the powers of evil are exalted." :-)

Oh, this is terrible! I can't find my two volume set of Sherlock Holmes! I found my copy of "The White Company", but the Holmes set, which goes from the very first story until he & Moriarity go over the falls together, is AWOL. It was given to me by my grandfather back in the 70's. I was going to check it & see if the stories were in published order & to find out if "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was first, as I recalled.
Oh, this sucks! Did the moving gremlin eat it almost 2 years ago & it took me this long to notice? Ugh!
I am thinking I may take this paperback with me on our trip as its so small it shouldn't take up too much space. Then I can give it a third try.
