Today an old friend called me and we ended up talking for a good hour or so..and it seriously made my day because i really had been thinking about her lately but we had a falling out a while ago..so it was nice to reconnect!

I had asked my boss for a week off a while ago and he said yes which I was excited about but tried not to be too excited in case anything changed....well today he put of the schedule and I got what I wanted...I'm planning to go see my friends in Portland (and Powells) and have plenty of time to sit at home and read uninterrupted...I'm so excited

Let's see...good thing that happened...I got an A on my history book review. It's rather ironic because my history professors tell me that I'm a good writer and give me an A on my essays, but my English professors say I'm not a good writer and give me a B.
Oh and...the Yankees won last night (yay) and I took the night off for me and read, while listening to the game.
I WON ANOTHER BOOK! Free books are always a exciting thing. This was another Good Reads giveaway. My third I have won!
The Gnostic Mystery
by Randy Davila
Hopefully it is good!

And... Yay!!! Today I did a seminar and my professor really appreciated. A bunch of students came to say me "Congrats"!
And I'm excited: tomorrow I'll start a new routine; hopefully I'll be able to maintain this time :)

And last night in creative writing I got an A+ on my story (which is really something coming from this professor) and he invited me to submit it to the literary journal. (I didn't even think it was that amazing. haha)

As for my good news, I got accepted in the Graduate school I applied to. I'll be getting my Masters in journalism and moving to NY in the fall!

I have good news too!! SNOW DAY!!! Well I had to go to my two morning classes but they (finally) closed the campus at 12:30. I can't believe we had to go this morning, we had like a full on blizzard! It was crazy!! But that's ok! Then I went sledding with a couple of my friends! It was so fun!!

So now I don't have to scramble to write it.
yay everyone..such good news!!
Anastasia: I might be moving to NY in the fall too!! we could hang out! :)
Janet: I'm jealous..I mean..I hate cold weather but I'd take snow if it could get me out of work!! Bring on the blizzard!!
ugh i wish i had good news..i just had a rotten day..but i'm really trying to be more positive..so i'm going to make myself think of something good..oohh..i had lunch with my best friend today!! that made me happy because we have both been so busy..so it was nice to catch up!

1. It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. My roommate went home for the weekend yesterday and won't be back until Monday. (Unfortunately I already made plans to go home tonight, but still...)
3. I'm throwing a dinner party for my favorite professor and I feel so good inside because last year when some friends and I threw one, he was SO happy.

And YAY DINNER PARTIES! I love those! I hope you all have a great time.
And I'm going home today! My brother is the "monkey leader" in my old high school's production of The Wizard of Oz. I saw pictures, it's gonna be crazy awesome.
today i had such a bad day at work..again..and my boyfriend came over to hang out with me and brought me flowers... :)
it made my whole day better!
it made my whole day better!

Sorry, though...I have the BEST news..MY BOYFRIEND GOT A JOB!!!!!!! Oh my gosh I am so freaking excited. It's like a real job at a law firm. When they called they said they really liked him and want to fast track him to a higher position. And now he is talking seriously about going to law school at some point. It's very exciting!! AND... a little while ago, he said his first big purchase once he gets a good job is going to be a ring. Hehe YAY! I am just so excited about it all!!
yayyy Janet!!! I'm so glad that he finally got a job!! that is sooo exciting..I know that it has been a stress on your relationship sometimes..so I'm glad to hear that everything is working out!! :)

My good news is I turned 21 yesterday! I'm in Englan so it's not the same as it would be in hte states, BUT my boyfriend and I went horseback riding on Dartmoor (and today we're both really sore) and went out to dinner. Plus, he gave me a beautiful freshwater pearl necklace! *sigh*
happy belated birthday liz!! that sounds like an awesome birthday date with your boyfriend though! :)

And for the question "Discuss the protagonist/antagonist in Sherwood Anderson's 'Mother.'" the only thing I knew was that it was from Winesburg, Ohio.
I literally wrote (word for word): "The son is the antagonist in "Mother" from Winesburg, Ohio and the mother is the protagonist. Throughout the story, the son is trying to get the mother to do something she doesn't want to do and he is forcing her into a state of conflict." ..... yeah.. and I got all 4 points. In a way it's funny, but my classmates who know about it are kinda pissed. Several of them did badly and they actually read all the stuff!!

And I found an apartment for next year! I signed the lease yesterday. Next week, I'm going to make an appointment to see the exact one that I'll get in August. I can't wait to decorate!

Janet, relay for life is always fun! Unfortunately, I've never been able to stay for the etnirety of one.

As for my good news...I have a whole week off. I even lied to work and said I was going to be out of town for the whole time so they won't call me in.

As disorganized as it was, with enough time, I managed to dig out some real GEMS from the place. I got an annotated Nabokov, Eco's Six Walks In The Fictional Woods, and a volume of Proust's essays on art and literature!! YAAAY!!! I wont have time to read them for weeks! I am broke again! Oh, well! Three books for $15 is good enough for me!!
My roommate and I were just on a pleasure-walk to while away the afternoon (and eat at one of our favorite Korean restaurants, which is pretty far, so we don't go often). We also stopped by a newly-opened art gallery and dropped into a nail saloon for manicures. It was the second manicure of my life; I don't really do this stuff. I felt so girly and pampered. ^^;
Then we went to an anti-slavery workshop on campus, which was so, so good. Did you know that slavery still exists in the US? (notforsale.org if you care about this kind of stuff)
And that was just my SATURDAY!
Basically, I had an awesome weekend. I hope everyone else did, too. : )

Anyway, I really digressed from the topic.... lol.

I do like towering, labyrinthine libraries you can just get lost in, but my favorite bookstores (at least the ones I've frequented in Berkeley) have been the tiny, ones with used books where you wonder how they're even still in business -- the ones with the musty smell of old, wrinkly pages; always stocked with an incomplete, ratty collection of pre-1950 encyclopedias; often with a store cat who prowls around the haphazard stacks of books like she owns the place. I like them because you have to look a little to find something good, and there are always surprises. Book-searching becomes like a treasure hunt. I sound like a five-year-old.
This is goodreads! Bookstores are exciting things that make me jump for joy! It's all relevant in my view. Thanks for sharing! I'll be sure to visit that one if I'm ever in Salt Lake City. : )
