OJ (oscarjay) | 2 comments Hi guys! Not sure where else to post, so I guess I'll make this an Aussie thread. I'm Oscar from Brisbane. Currently studying English lit at the University of Queensland - no idea what I want to do with my degree, but it's giving me an excuse to read a whole bunch of good books. I love Christopher Isherwood and Patricia Highsmith too! Also Kazuo Ishiguro, Jeffrey Eugenides, Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Jane Austen. Haven't read any queer literature outside of Isherwood - would love any suggestions :)
Thanks!

OJ (oscarjay) | 2 comments Thanks! Had no idea there was so much queer lit out there.
Trevor, I love authors who can write well and don't take themselves too seriously. Not that there have been many authors I haven't liked :)

Hi Oscar, I think you would enjoy Armistead Maupin, Christos Tsiolkas and Timothy Conigrave and Douglas Chirnside, all write well and have interesting stories to tell.

Mark | 25 comments Hi, I'm Mark from Sydney (originally Wollongong). I recently read Christopher Isherwood's My Guru and His Disciple where he talks about when he lived as an (almost) celibate Hindu monk in Hollywood (even though at the time he gave the young Tennessee Williams a lift to cruise a gay beat and waited for him in the car). A very interesting guy.
