25.3 - Nikki's task: Come Play With Me!
Great task Nikki! I want to confirm that
would work for the 1 book option. It seems to fit Game 1 (house in the background) and Game 4 (4 words in its title).
I was wondering if these are sufficiently building-y for Monopoly? They're huge books so I can go with the one book option. :)
Large version of Gardens and Memories so it's easier for you to decide.
JennRenee wrote: "if anyone is looking for a good 1 book option God Save the Queen works for 2 and 4."Great suggestion :)

[bookcover:Memories of Ice|17..."Heya,
Gardens of the moon works fine, Memories of Ice works for the building, but only has 3 words in the title so doesn't work for the one book option.

[bookcover:Me..."I knew I had missed something, lol. Thanks Nikki, I'll go with Gardens of the Moon.

Playing with a toy castle.

Thank you!"
That little castle counts as a building for me so it would work well for Game 1 with the 2 book option.
- is this OK for Monopoly (building)? I was hoping to use it for the one book option but it's not over 350 pages, so I will just use it for Option 1 and read another book in addition.
Oops, just found one that might be ok for option 2 - Flimsy Little Plastic Miracles (Eye Spy - 'little' / Connect 4 - four words in title). Would this be fine? The kindle version seems to be 352 pages.
For Option 2, Monopoly and Chess, I wanted to double check that this book works. I plan to read the ebook version and the mass market paperback version shows 358 pages.ebook version =

Hi this book works, just make sure you post the kindle versions cover.

This book works :)

I'm hoping this one works for the one book option as it is such a big book I want to get the maximum amount of points I can for it.lolA Clash of Kings for game 2 & 4

Hi Sam, that book works perfectly. Actually the reason i did the 1 book option was to give those who do like the big books an option. Enjoy.
I found several possibilities in my TBR for the one-book option:
,
,
,
All seem to meet Monopoly and Connect Four and are over 350pp.
EDIT: My copy of The House Next Door won't work as it has less than 350 pages. I will use one of the others.

Yes your right the first 3 work, the final one,
[book:The House Next Door|104217] works as the Connect 4 Game and Monopoly Game but not for the one book challenge as too few words.
Good hunting there :).
D.G. wrote: "Another one for the one book option!

"Thanks, Nikki. Since all three are library books, it will depend on availability as to which I choose.
I'm hoping single-book option is my chance to get another big book off my TBR. The title has 4 words (Connect 4), the image is a close-up of a cathedral (Monopoly) and the page count is over 600.

Looks good, Enjoy :)

"Hi BJ, no I'm afraid as its a room rather than a building. An impressive room though.
Sue T wrote: "Fun task! Will this work for a one book option - Monopoly and Chess

The title and cover work, but you will need the ebook approval thread to confirm the page count.

There's also a paperback, so it's fine.

There is too sorry I missed that, I just saw 1 edition and figured it was the one displayed. Enjoy the book :)
For the one book option does this work?
432 pages has houses/buildings for Game 1 and has a 4 word title for Game 4.

Good choice, enjoy :)

I found this big book on my TBR for 1 book (1&4) but I'm not sure yet which version my library has. Hopefully my 'library hold' sends me the first one which is pretty clearly a building in the distance. The second cover looks to me like they are standing on a sidewalk in front of a bakery.

The first one definitely, the 2nd one is borderline but i'll approve it as windows and walls are part of buildings and shes likely outside.

Whilst growing up, Monopoly was always my favourite board game and with the recent announcement that they are retiring the Iron playing piece, i thought this challenge could play homage to childhood games, in particular the ones that never seem to end well.
For this challenge you are to read either:
Option 1- 2 books from different games
OR
Option 2- One book of 350+ pages that plays 2 games
Game 1 - Monopoly.
To win this game its all about houses and hotels so read a book with a building of some sort on the cover.
Required: Please include the cover in your post.
Game 2 - Chess.
A game of strategy and sacrifice where the winner feels just a little bit smug. Read a book where the title and subtitle contains the name of a chess piece. These will be considered to be King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook and Pawn. Plurals and possessives work, but no other variations.
Game 3 - Eye Spy
An annoying game, beloved by the young and played on car trips from Melbourne to Morocco. Read a book whose title and subtitle contains 2 or more of any of these words "I, spy, with, my, little, eye, something, beginning, with" Plurals and Possessives work, but no other variations.
Game 4 - Connect 4.
The purpose of this game is to get four in a row so for this game, read a book with exactly 4 words in its title AND subtitle if it appears on Goodreads. All words will be counted including a, and, I etc.,
NOTE: Genres “Graphic Novel,” “Sequential Art,” “Comics,” and “Manga” may be used for this task.
NOTE: Books with genre "Children" or "Kids" with 100-300 pages may be used for this task
Required:Please identify the option and the 2 games when you post
