Books You Can't Finish
tried it twice and actually got a third of the way through on the second try put in the end had to stop.
I couldn't finish
. I'm sure it's a great book but not the kind I like at all. Wow there's a lot of my favourites listed here (Cinder, the Host, Across the Universe). Goes to show that everyone has different tastes!
I will try again at some point to finish it because there is nothing actaully wrong with it, it just was not holding my attention.

I was not a big fan of The Host either. It was meh to me.
I really wanted to like it, but I just kept putting it down. Maybe it had too many similarities to my book, and that bothered me...I'm not sure.
I want to read these books until finish but seems they aren't my favorite genre. I know Scorpio Races is a good story but I've difficulties to understand the terms that the author gave so I pending it.
I don't think I have come across a book that I couldn't finish. I tend to be pretty picky about what I start. I have read a few books that I really didn't like but kept reading just in case something good happens in the end and makes the whole book better. I do wish I hadn't started a few books though.
and
being the 2 biggest. They pretty much ruined the whole series for me!

Wow Jennifer, I loved about 1/3 of the books that you didn't like. Just goes to show different strokes for different folks. That's what makes the world go around.

I've tried and tried, but I cant seem to read more than a few pages before putting it back down. I keep thinking that if I keep going it will eventually pick up.

it has it's moments but i found it really hard to follow there are at least 8 narators (conservative guess) and they switch with no warning... a few times in the middle of paragraphs
I was kind of into Beautiful Creatures for about half of the book and then it was just long and boring. Gave up. Same with Throne of Glass. Could not get into it. The only thing I liked was Prince Dorian.
I forgot The Selection too. Just skimmed it like Throne of Glass. I liked Aspen but Prince Maxon gave me the hibby jibbies. Plus all those random rebel attacks that made no sense.
Jennifer wrote: "I forgot The Selection too. Just skimmed it like Throne of Glass. I liked Aspen but Prince Maxon gave me the hibby jibbies. Plus all those random rebel attacks that made no sense."At least you got the far - I think I read about 80 pages before I quit.

- I simply couldn't finish this. Hated the characters, the pacing was beyond slow, and the cover makes no sense.
- I almost don't feel the feel for an explanation.
- Absolutely ridiculous.

I would stick it out, may as well see it to the end

I didn't care for Clockwork Angel very much either but Clockwork Prince was MUCH better.

It took me a while to get into Throne of Glass but it does get better.

Maybe I should just skip ahead to Clockwork Prince ;)
Clockwork Angel is boring because it does the intros and tells the why when how and where of everyone.
Amanda (mandy) wrote: "Rebecca wrote: "Jennifer wrote: "I forgot The Selection too. Just skimmed it like Throne of Glass. I liked Aspen but Prince Maxon gave me the hibby jibbies. Plus all those random rebel attacks that..."It's certainly a long book to stick it out for, lol.
I am trying to read Wither right now. I don't know. I keep putting it down to read other stuff.
I had to read Gone Girl for bookclub and I did not like the characters at all! No one had any redeeming qualities. Story was interesting though
I absolutely hate not finishing books, but sometimes it can't be helped.
Throne of Glass had a lot to do with not being able to get past how arrogant the MC was. I might have been able to keep going if the story was halfway interesting, but alas both were unbearable (for me).

you know its ok to not finish the Host at first, i tried reading the book twice before i finished it, its just so long and draggy in the starting but it keeps getting better! and if you are determined to finish it im sure you're gonna enjoy it
Pianolover wrote: "i gave up, like totally gave up on

I liked Cinder, maybe not as much as some, but more than some other people. That's the beauty of books - everyone has a view and you can take different angles on it. Wizards's First Rule has been one I can't seem to finish!
Talyah wrote: "I absolutely hate not finishing books, but sometimes it can't be helped.
[bookcover:Switched|85..."I did finish Switched, but it was a struggle. Not because it didn't have some good fantasy elements, because it did....the main issue for me was Wendy's total and constant indecisiveness....it was infuriating! It has a good start and a good ending...although it was left obviously open ended for the follow ups, which was stretching it for me a bit...!
Tracy wrote: "Clockwork Angel is boring because it does the intros and tells the why when how and where of everyone."I think that is fine so long as the story gets moving....nothing wrong with strong character development but sometimes you read it and think 'but how does this advance our story'? That said, as a writer I know maybe in my stuff the pace can be slow at times. We work with what we know.

Actually, GG was recommended to me by two friends.....and I agree with you...good story, but I did not warm to the characters. The story was good enough to carry me through to the end. Still haven't got around to reviewing it though!
Rebecca wrote: "Jennifer wrote: "I forgot The Selection too. Just skimmed it like Throne of Glass. I liked Aspen but Prince Maxon gave me the hibby jibbies. Plus all those random rebel attacks that made no sense."..."The Selection achieved an unholy trinity for me - I did not like America, Aspen or Maxon. The story was readable enough...if I had to plug for any character of note, maybe Celeste? But she seemed to be a token b*tch for no good reason, and the 'dystopian' world seemed a bit forced. It's an okay read for me, but didn't inspire me to read the follow ups or the novellas. Ugh!
