Ellen sat next to the pool, her feet in the water. She wasn't up for the beach because she didn't want to deal with the sand, but now she was regretting it because the pool was basically a ghost town. There wasn't another person in sight!
Damon walked out to the pool. The beach seemed busy and he wanted a place were he could study in quiet. Well a place that was quieter than the beach, anyways. Unlike his twin Carver, Damon wanted to go to college next fall.
Ellen looked up and saw another person. "Hi!" She grinned and waved, glad to finally see someone to talk to.
Damon blinked rapidly, he was so lost in his thoughts he hadn't even noticed the girl. Not until she waved to him anyways. He couldn't help but to smile, as he waved back."Hey there, I didn't even see you! I'm Damon," he replied to her.
"I'm Ellen!" She replied cheerfully. "I was beginning to think the world was ending because no one was at the pool during the summer." She grinned at him.
"I'm Ellen!" She replied cheerfully. "I was beginning to think that the world had ended. How is a pool like this one so empty during the summer?" She grinned at him.
Damon laughed and gave her a smile, "Yeah, I just got into town with my family. I tried the beach, there was way too many people there. I guess people prefer the beach, I don't, I like pools."
"I'm just not that big of a fan of sand." Ellen replied. "The beach just isn't that appealing to me."
"Same here, it just feels so gross between my toes...not a great feeling at all," he said, "So what brings you to Immortal Beach?"
"Ah nice, my parents are all about family togetherness. We travel all over the world for their jobs. Their movie producers. We came to Immortal Beach for some down time, before I start college." Damon answered her while sat down next to her, putting his feet in the water too.
Ellen smirked. "I'm just my parents little pet. Yes mam, no sir, of course sir. They've never seen me as a child. Just a puppet for show. This was supposed to be a reward for being such a good child. Fun, huh?"
"Ouch, some great parents ya got there. Mine are suffocating, as well, though not as bad as yours. I'm the good one, my twin Carver is the bad one. Well he's not really bad, just likes to take risks."
"Sounds like a good time. I honestly don't want this summer to end because that would mean no fun again. I want my childhood back. I want to have fun. Fool around." Ellen sighed and lay back, looking at the sky.
Damon's eyes widen when she said "fool around" he tried to stop himself from blushing. "I understand what you mean, although I'm looking forward to college. It's my chance to get away from my parents and be myself." he glanced down at his feet and started lightly kicking the water.
"Oh don't be so embarassed!" She hit him lightly on the arm. "Lighten up! This summer is like your second chance at life! Live it!"
"I've um, well never really dated before," he laughed, trying to brush off his embarrassment, "My brother is the lady killer, not me."
Ellen laughed. "Well I'm sure you could do whatever you wanted. I'm not the only one who's parents told me that am I?" Ellen decided to back off a bit and be less flirty, he didn't seem to comfortable with it.
Damon smiled and winked at her, "Nope, not at all...too bad it actually means, "if it's what we want you to do." So your parents like you come here alone? Mine will probably try to hire me tutors instead of letting me actually go to college."
"They think I'm here with friends, but who wants to be friends with someone who heeds their parents every word?" Ellen shrugged. "I guess you could say I don't have friends. Just people I call when I want to do something bad."
"Well from one parents' golden child to another, I don't see anything wrong with having you as a friend. Although my opinion might be a bit bias. How would you like to be my first real friend, Ellen?" Damon gave her flashy grin, and put his hand out to shake on it...if she agreed.
"Sure, no harm in it, then I actually have a friend to tell my parents about. But I'm probably going to tell them your name is Dana because they are prude and old fashioned." Ellen giggled and shook his hand. She felt silly, like a child, but it wasn't a bad feeling.
Damon boomed out his laughter, "Dana? Well I guess it's better than other names. Although, I draw the line at dressing up as a girl to meet your parents...I'm pretty but I'm not that pretty."He winked at her, having someone to talk to other than his twin and his parents was nice. This having a real friend thing was great.
"You do know what this means right? What we have to do now that we're officially friends. We have to come up with a secret handshake, silly yes I know, but I've always wanted to do it." Damon smiled playfully at her.
"Alright, what do you got? It has to be simple, but original." Ellen giggled again and turned so she was facing him more.
"Okay, okay...how about we grasp hands, fist bump, use our pointer finger and thumb as a "hand gun", then finished it up with a pinky-promise?" Damon laughed as he showed her his version of their secret handshake, "What do you think? Feel free to change anything."
"I like it, but instead of a pinky promise we should pretend to shoot each other. If we're going to live as friends, we'll die as friends, no matter what." Ellen said thoughtfully, which surprised her. She wasn't exactly known for doing much thinking.
"I love that! Great idea, it's very witty. Friends no matter what," Damon agreed as he held his hand out to do their first official secret handshake.
Ellen grinned and grabbed his hand, then fist bumped, and finally pulled out her "hand gun" and pretended to shoot Damon in the chest. "No matter what." She spoke the last part, making part of her handshake without realizing it.
He brightly smiled at her and at the successful completion of their handshake, "So are you hungry or anything? Well either that or we could go for a swim?"
"Let's try food. This deserted pool just makes me depressed." Ellen stood up and held out her hand for Damon.
Damon grabbed her hand and pulled himself up, "How about the Beach Cafe? I think I saw it when I first got into town. It looked pretty cool."
Katrina was laying back in one of the lounge chairs when a big splash hit her. She flinched sitting up and taking her glasses off. "Dude!" She yelled.
