Quick Favorite. I loved loved loved this book. I had to stay up later than usual last night to finish it because I just could not put it down until I knew how it ended. Last page was kinda confusing to me though. I really felt for this young girl. Some may say why was she so insecure, I ask why not???? Until Max really opened up to her, she never knew his feelings or what he was thinking. The staff and people who visited or she visited would put Rebecca on a pedestal and then say how unlike Rebecca she was. I simply hated Mrs. Danvers. I understood her grief though really she was deceived. She was just truly Nasty. Awesome Awesome read....
Rating: 4/5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was extremely easy to read considering its a "classic". The writing just flowed so nicely and had beautiful descriptions like a gothic novel should. I could hear the wind and really picture Manderley.
The characters in this novel were frustrating. But I thought it was a good thing. I can't believe Maxim and Mrs. De Winter got away with it.
Rebecca. Oh Rebecca! She makes you feel kind of sorry for her in the beginning then you just realize that she is psychotic! But I think she was my favorite part of the book because she was such a great gothic novel character.
The ending. At first I was like wait what? Then I re-read the last couple paragraphs to make sure I understood. I really liked how the ending is chronologically before the beginning. And I won't give it away but it was genius!

I loved it too! Even though Mrs. Danvers was so awful and nasty I thought she made the story amazing as well as Rebecca's ghost. Glad you enjoyed it too! :)

This was a really enjoyable book to read although lengthy on descriptions at times. The pacing was good, the twists in the plot were unexpected, the characters were well drawn and author did a great job of narrating the perspective of the main character. I thought it was very interesting that the main character was never given a name!
Teresa: I thought it was interesting too how she wasn't given a name. I kept finding myself flipping back through the book to make sure I didn't miss it. A major theme in this book is identity or lack of one and I think it was a very good thing for the story that she stayed nameless.
