Igor (igork) | 55 comments Rob,

Can you please make new thread "Dune" in the main section as we are about to start reading it at 15th of April, if Penny agrees.

Thanks man.

Done. Would have done it sooner but I've been driving all day. Well and then I had to watch Doctor Who before catching up on the internet.

Igor (igork) | 55 comments Thank you, much appreciated!

Igor (igork) | 55 comments Group reading may start 14th of April as I just noticed the date in one of the threads that we discussed about.

Cool! I won't be reading along, but I will likely jump in on the discussion.

Igor (igork) | 55 comments Four more days... what the hell I'm going to read till then?!? :S

message 11: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 123 comments I've been having exactly the same problem! I read I Hunt Killers way faster than I was supposed to and now I'm reading The Dispossessed. I figure worst case scenario is that I'll read two books simultaneously. Really looking forward to Dune!

LoL. You guys could have just started early..the start date was totally arbitrary. This isn't a REAL book club remember. No need for formal start dates really.

message 13: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 123 comments Thanks Rob, now I feel all kinds of silly :) It's fine though, this way I get to read an extra book and we all start Dune at the same time(ish).

Jon (jon17) | 14 comments Rob makes a good point.
Feel free to start discussing anything you want; just remember to put the discussion in spoiler tags and let us know what you're discussing.

eg
Thoughts about first two chapters:

I made a section for a reason. You should have the actual discussion in numerous threads.

My suggestion is to break the book up some how.

I can't seem to find a list of the chapter breakdown, and I did it in audio book, so I don't have any real good suggestions.

message 16: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 123 comments There are three books that make up the novel so we'll probably have two threads for each book, one with spoilers and one without. I can't see an easier way to break up the book, but perhaps we'll see one when actually reading it.

Well you're the one in charge of this read, so it is decreed, so it shall be! ^_^

message 18: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 123 comments Oh goody :) I'll give it some thought and then set up some introductory threads in this section.

message 19: by Nimrod (new)

Nimrod Daniel (nimroddaniel) | 5 comments I'll probably start reading Dune on wednesday-thursday (hopefully).

Richard (amazoncomauthorricharddparker) | 7 comments I envy you guys, makes me wish I'd never read Dune...well at least not the third or fourth time. Read it first as a youngster and it's still one of my very favorites. :-)
