LOL I don't know why I voted for this one. I no longer like Dean Koontz. Everything that I've read of his over the last few years has been disappointing. BUT... I do own this one, and it's an older one, so maybe I'll like it? It'll be a little bit before I actually get to this one though. I have some obligations to read first. :)

i read this years ago and hated it so much i've never read another of his book but i'm starting to think some of them look good
I think I saw the film first (with Ben Affleck?) and thought it was so bad. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the book. Not as bad as I feared.
I haven't seen the movie either. Though I did know it was Ben Affleck thanks to Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. :P
Man! i didn't realize yall were doing a group read for this. I just finished this book a couple of days ago and it was my first koontz book, and i was pleasantly surprised. a pretty good read
I've read several Koontz books - none of the ODD series, though - and so far I'm enjoying this one. I can't read as quickly as I want to right now, however, so I'm glad for the spoiler alerts! I think I'm about 5 chapters in. I have to say that there isn't much lead time before the mystery and action begins. Hoping to like it even more as I get further into the story.
I just read this last month for the second time and I liked it a little less this time around but I think its because i've come to realize Koontz isn't as good of a writer as 12-16 year old me thought he was. His books are just 'meh' for me and while this is one of his better novels, it wasn't incredible. It does have an interesting villain though. I hope some of you like the book,as it is worth a read.
I used to love all of his books but read them when I was much younger. They do seem worse reads now that I'm older. Phantoms was always a favourite and genuinely scared me. Film rubbish though. Try Strangers as I remember that being a good read.
Katie wrote: "Ellie, if your looking for a good Koontz novel, Intensity is one of his best - probably THE best. :)"Agreed.

I read Intensity as a teen and loved it... not sure it holds up the best now, but it it's just a thriller, no supernatural aspects, which I think are better.
I enjoyed the book. I found it interesting in the afterward in my book, Dean Koontz said he wished he had never written Phantoms, because this was the booked that caused him to be labeled a horror writer, which is a title he didn't want.
I haven't read many Koontz yet, and so far I've liked what I've read. This has been sitting on my shelf for years so I'm anxious to read it. I just started it and he doesn't waste any time in this one! Things start right away!
I read and enjoyed this one a while ago, but I enjoy most of Koontz' books. His more recent ones all seem to blend together tho.I love Intensity, Lightning, Life Expectancy, the Odd novels, and his Frankenstein books.

It's one that I read twice and enjoyed it both times.
I thought it to be one of his better books.
One of my all time favorite books is his:
Life Expectancy
I read Phantoms a month or two ago. lots if action right awsy and no waiting for 75% of the book to get to the good stuff. never saw the movie but im sure it would be a difficult one yo transfer to screen much like Stephen King's It wad never close as good to the book. thr scary stuff u see in your oen mind is always better than what they can do in a movie. reading intensity now. just starting to get to the thrilling part 7% in. hope its as good as you all say. just got done with From the corner of his eye.....hated it..worst one of his do far. waste of time.
Just read the whole of this book in 2 1/2 days. It was my first book of his but I absolutely loved it.
I've only read a handful so far and liked what I've read so far. Strangers
Intensity
Hideaway
Tick Tock
I read Phantoms many years ago and remember really liking it. My favorite Dean Koontz novel is The Bad Place. I've read it several times. Tick Tock is a close second and I've enjoyed a few others, like Intensity and One Door Away from Heaven.
His books are kind of hit and miss for me. His other books I've read were okay to mediocre.

Sharon- I feel the same way about Koontz being hit-or-miss, and I absolutely love The Bad Place! It's my all-time favorite work of his, too!!:)
Phantoms was a great read, but the movie was average.
Did anyone else love THE VOICE OF THE NIGHT but me?

The Voice Of The Night is outstanding, Dustin. Better than Phantoms.

Aw, thank you so much for your input, Kyle and Holly! I'll definitely have to look for it, someday.:)
