If you were to escape to start another life in another country, where would you go, and who would you choose to go with?

Cassandra (cassyelliott) | 21 comments I definitely would go somewhere in Europe. Quality of life for me is most important! I don't have to live in the best of places, just be with people who would appreciate relationships, good food, wine and art! Ideally I have a friend in mind, my best friend! I know he would appreciate it as well. Spain is likely the choice~ a city not too big, but not too small. Suggestions?

Matthew | 9 comments Jamaica. With middle son Alex. Out of all my kids, he's the one whose reaction most matches mine when the bass kicks in as we listen to Roots reggae. Plus we're both rather partial to rice and peas.

Cassandra (cassyelliott) | 21 comments Matthew....rice and peas are good!

Matthew | 9 comments How about Seville, Cassy?

Matthew | 9 comments With a generous dash of Ancona sauce, they're even tastier, Cassy.

Seville looks amazing. I have to look at the cost of living there!

Matthew | 9 comments I'm putting the finishing touches to an article about relocating there, Cassy. Will send you the URL when it goes live. You could also Go, ahem, Local in Gran Canaria. Here's a link which might come in handy if you're interested: http://www.spainbuddy.com/moving-to-g...

Thanks bunches!!! I really appreciate that. :)

Matthew | 9 comments De nada, Cassy. You're welcome. I'm sure Joe would argue for Tenerife. Hmm, it has its attractions. But personally I rank it below other Canary Islands, La Gomera and Lanzarote. Not sure if you can tell from my probably more travel-related guide to the islands here: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/matth....

Will have to check it out. Not much of an island girl for living...but nice to visit. Love Spanish speaking countries...had also considered living somewhere in Italy, France, or Sweden.

Matthew | 9 comments In Italy, I could see myself living in Florence, in France, Marseille, and in Sweden? Sorry, never been. Steve Hall, https://www.facebook.com/thisisspain, despite his Spanish base is a better person to help on that front given his experience of living in Scandinavia. Have to say I fell in love with San Francisco when I briefly worked over there.

Cassandra (cassyelliott) | 21 comments I actually have been to Stockholm and have friends who live in just north. Other than the dark days during certain times of year, it is a friendly place but maybe not too affordable.

Seville or Valencia sound just the ticket, Cassy, though the former is mighty hot in summer.
