A Voice in the Wind discussion

Do any guys read these books, or is this strictly for women? Just curious.

This story could be enjoyed by anyone.

The point of view character is a woman, but I wouldn't say it is strictly chick lit, either. I picked it up because I saw a review on Amazon that said its depiction of ancient Rome was excellent, and it was pretty good.

There are 3 books in this series, Mark of the Lion. Enjoyed them all.

I know a of a few guys that LOVE the mark of the lion series, so yes I think it is a "guys" book as well. Brilliant author, and a heck of a well written book!

Definitely a great book for guys to read. It's got blood and gore, Roman soldiers, brutality. It also has strength, compassion, integrity, loyalty. It is no easy book to read but very, VERY, worth while.

I've got a guy friend who's read it and said he enjoyed it a lot!

It's compelling and is for everybody (except the younger 'uns of course).

A guy recommended this book to me. He worked at the book store and gave rave reviews about the series.

Actually, the only book in this triliogy that is written mostly from a feminine point of view is the first one,"A Voice in the Wind." The secnd book is split between two mail POVs and one female. It is well-done, but this is my least favorite of the trilogy. My favorite is the third, "From Darkness to Dawn," because the main POV character is a gladiator. I think this one might be the most enjoyable read for men, but the entire series is exceptionally well-written and engaging.

Most definitely, my dad read them all, and he really liked them, and he's not a reader at all. It's a great historical, christian fiction book that I will recommend to anyone.

Fantastic books for men or women alike. The writing is excellent, and the content, especially the in-depth historical research, was one-of-a-kind. Highly recommended!

I agree with other commenters, this is a book that could easily be appreciated by both genders. Francine Rivers writes in a way that is appealing to women and men alike. However, men I know especially enjoyed An Echo in the Darkness and As Sure as the Dawn. I think it depends on the guy, really.

Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series can be enjoyed by both genders. There is a lot of action. My very favorite book in this trilogy is An Echo in the Darkness.

My husband reads all of River's books because he knows how much I love them. I may or may not own ALL of her books...:)

Yes! This book is for gals and guys alike. The POV in the first book is from a female protagonist, (absolutely amazing by the way) and the second book focuses more on Marcus' story. Both are filled with action and a complex plot line. I know many guys I would recommend this series to.

My husband started with the third book in the series: As Sure as the Dawn

He liked it so much that he went back and read the first two and loved them, even tho they were female protagonists.

I've read it multiple times and I love it. Nothing girly about it. Atretes is my favourite character hands-down. I kept guys in mind when I wrote my debut novel Twiceborn which will be published this fall. It's always good to read/write a book that both men and women will enjoy.

Anyone who likes to read about the dynamics of relationships is welcome to read this. Its the most captivating story ever!
