I am so excited to introduce myself to you, and to get to know you all more. I am one of your Young Adult moderators, a positive ball of energy (my husband calls me Sunshine & Bubbles) and an overall book geek.

What I love most about books is how you can be transported into a different world, discover new philosophies, and open your mind to wonders and unthinkable adventures.

When I am not busy reading a book, I am writing one, or making one up for my kids. I am a 100% focused mommy during the day, and author by night. You can find more about me at www.kirstinpulioff.com, and connect with me here at Goodreads, facebook, and twitter.

My first book, The Escape of Princess Madeline, is a feisty modern take on the traditional coming of age fairytale, and more will be coming soon.

The Escape of Princess Madeline by Kirstin Pulioff

I look forward to connecting with you, and sharing insights about books across all levels and all genres.

DL (dlgardner) | 10 comments Hi Kirstin! I'm a lover of YA/middle grade books too and I've seen your cover everywhere and want to read it. It looks luscious! I write books targeted for boys because I have 16 grandkids and 9 of them are boys. They were desperate for something to read so I created Ian's Realm.

So nice to meet you! That is wonderful, and part of the fun... I am sure they are all proud of you , adn how cool to have a grandma write a book series just for them!

DL (dlgardner) | 10 comments They're big supporters. I'd like the series to reach all boys everywhere, but then don't we all want to expand our market.

There are a few books I wanted to mention in this category that I really love. The books by Gary Schmidt, Wednesday Wars and OK For Now. And another heart wrenching book by Matt de la Pena titled We Were Here about a young boy who went to juevie for something he didn't mean to do and how he had to try and overcome his anxieties and roughness that he learned from fellow inmates.

Mary Summer (mesummer) | 3 comments Hi, Kristin! Thanks for inviting me! I'm looking forward to reading about all the good books I've somehow missed in my meanderings. Thanks for putting this group together!

J.H. Walker (jhwalker) Hello Kirstin: Thanks for the invite. I'm interested in all things YA, having written a YA novel. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment, learning all the social media that comes with publishing a book. But I hope to contribute to the discussion.

You are in great company here... we can all relate to the overwhelming nature of social media, and this is a great place to meet new people who enjoy books, enjoy reading, and enjoy the entire process. :)

I know! I use my kids as an excuse sometimes for what we are reading, but I love them too!

Jan Scarbrough (jan_scarbrough) | 3 comments I actually found a fan of my books, blush, and she suggested I write one for children. I stick horses into my books when I can and that's why she suggested it. My problem is that I don't know the YA, children market. Can you suggest book(s) for me to read that can give me an idea of what is expected?

Hi Jan! That is so funny. I think people of all ages love horses... as for suggestions about what makes up this genre, there are so many to choose. Here is a link to listopia that showcases a bunch of YA novels.

Here is one for Middle grade

YA or MG is typically categorized by a younger age of the protagonist (under 16 for MG, Teens for YA), the depth of material (not overly explicit), and ralatable overall themes.

There are also some good links in the discussion thread about favorites.

Janeal Falor Hi Kristin. Sunshine and bubbles -- love it!

I'm like you, I love being able to go to another world through reading. Cheapest vacation money can buy. I've seen your book around before, it sounds like a good one. I love a good princess story!

Su Williams (suwilliams) | 15 comments Hi Kristin,
I'm fairly new to all the online book stuff. I tried to put my book's cover on my intro but it didn't work. Also, I'm not super clear on how to go about getting my book on as a R4R. Could you hold my hand please? :-D

Happy to help Su! It is nice to have you here! To add your book cover to your post, you will want to click on the hyperlink above the message box that says add book/author. From there, input your book info and goodreads will find it. You can choose either the cover or the link to the page. We welcome all posts about authors and personally written books in the author corner areas, btu not in the main reading pages.
To post to the R4R program (which is awesome!!!), start a new topic under the R4R folder, introducing your book and the specific information for readers to see.
I hope this helps, but if not, I am happy to lead you with more specific details. Looking forward to seeing your book.

I am happy to announce that I am also heading up the Children's book area. Please join me there as well for discussions and recommendations on our favorites. It's fun to reminisce on the ones we love... the ones our kids love, and the ones that surprised us!
