Biographies & Memoirs of Other Generations discussion

I seem to go through spells where I read an author or genre obsessively. Lately, probably because my research forced me to read biographies and memoirs, I've become somewhat addicted to those. And what a rich library of unread books awaits me! All I need is time!!!

I am the same. When I find a new author that I really like than I have to get all their books. Then I may go thru a "dry" spell where I return to an old favorite and read those books over again.

I'm exactly the same too. I can devour books on a particular genre (I quite often go through "China" phases where I read about 5/6 in a row until I've had enough and move on to something completely different). I'm the same with authors.

Oh me too. Boof, I'm coming out of a China phase myself. I devoured Anchee Min's Empress Orchid and The Last Empress. Funny, I did Orchid on CD and at the end there was an interview with her. She is so cute and bubbly. She mentioned a book by Seagrave that was the first to discredit the Empress'first biographer (he was a pervy pornographer of all things.) Later that week, I found Seagraves book about the last empress in a thrift store!

Definitely my preferences cahnge. I like reading groups of books about a particular geographic area. Currently I am stuck on Greece, Turkey and Caucasus. Axhile before I was reading books biographies and memoirs and historical fiction about artists. However after awhile it is best to change the topic.....

I'm still in my 1920's phase, mostly because of my research.
