D B This book was meant to take a realistic approach to life. Ending was sad but good.

Jakob The ending is WAY better once you read Perfect. it

I soo agree with you :)

♥-ℜachel -♥ I actually really loved the ending. especially since out of all three of the main characters, Connor, the only one who came from a "normal" family, is the one who ultimately looses. I mean, Vanessa's dad barely knew her and had such little contact with the family, and her mom was so engrossed with her "angel" that she didn't know what was going on, and Tony's family was rough what with his whorey mother and constant sexual abuse and child neglect. Connor's family and childhood seemed so.. normal. One I can imagine most people having. Even if people's parents aren't so obsessed with ultimate perfection for their child, most kids feel that's what their parents want. maybe i'm reading too far into this, but I felt like it was a message that of all the horrible things Vanessa and Tony had to deal with growing up, they lived and Connor killed himself even though his life was comfortable. just imo.

Jakob Haha im not the only one :D When Perfect ended and Tony and Vanessa talked with Cara I was like oh snap

I think in a sense, it was a strangely peaceful ending. It stuck to reality. Not everyone gets better, but It shows how people really need ALL the support they can get. I mistakenly read it in the mist of a hollowing depression I had battled since I was very young. It seems like it would be bad, but it really hit me full on and helped me. I think the ending is great the way it is.

Mea I love the ending sad but I really did like the way Hopkins did not have the perfect happy ending.

Meredith Martinson I liked the ending because I gave it a twist that I never thought would happen in the end. I thought they would get all better which they did but it was a sad but interesting twist.

Mea meredith- your right Ellen Hopkins does have way of doing that I think it makes the story so much more interesting , and realalistic.

I agree with you! For me the ending answered a lot of questions that I had after reading Perfect and ultimately put my mind at pea..."

Thanks for posting your opinion! I'm actually really looking forward to reading perfect. Ellen Hopkins is my favorite, and this was my second time reading Impulse (so I could read perfect) and I liked it even better the second time!

Allen T At the end of Perfect when you got to hear from Tony and Vanessa again, I cried... >,<
Although (as heartless as it sounds,) I'm happy for Connor. He didn't really have much to return to, and with his ever-controlling mother, what else is he expected to do?
I agree with Tony, nonetheless... He should have stuck around. Proved 'em wrong.

Maya Pankratz Honestly, I may not have wanted Conner to die, and I was sad at the ending, but I wasn't unhappy with it. One of my favorite thing about the author's books is she doesn't have happy endings. They're more realistic that way, I mean, life doesn't have happy endings.

K this thread is dead. But I still really want to know what happened to Tony and Vanessa., :"(

Ha! Same here. If only there could be like a mini epilogue type of thing. I'd like to think they definitely got together and were able to go into adulthood rather happily. Their relationships with their fathers seemed to have gotten better, and as for Vanessa's mom, she seems to be more okay with this. I don't think there was any "healing" for her mom, but Vanessa just grew to accept it and maybe had gotten better with her Bipolar Disorder after Tony and her got together.

At least, this is just what I like telling myself. lol

Cali I sort of got the feeling Conner would kill himself, but I was still pretty upset

Beth Galante I loved the ending to this book. I got a little paper airplane tattoo on my hand after I had read that book as sort of a reminder to be my own idea of perfect rather than feel pressured to be hat others might want me to be.

Fabiola Vidrios The ending was unfortunate. However, I felt like it was what made it so much more realistic. This book is definitely made for a variety of audiences.
