How is your relationship with your parents? Do you feel that they just don't understand you? Do you ever talk about things with them? Do they treat you well?

message 2: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (clouddinosaur) About a month ago I'd say they didn't know me at all because they weren't there for me during the hardest part of life. But now I think no one knows me better than them & we are very very close. I love them so much.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Thats great! Do you mind my asking what was hard that you were going through?

message 4: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (clouddinosaur) I was just going through this time last year where I was insanely depressed and was bullied a lot and I cut and burned myself a lot and I felt like they knew nothing that was going on.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow Taylor. I'm glad you got through it congratulations, I went through a similar period. It's rough my parents were trying to help but it never seemed to work.

message 6: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (clouddinosaur) Thanks, I'm glad you got through it, too. Yea I can understand that.

Stephanie | 56 comments Yeah my parents no me best and helped me with my speech. I speak the same rate as someone would speak in like french so my parents try to help a lot to slow my speech so everyone can understand me. Some girls in my L.A. class said(behind my back) that im weird and crazy and(i think) they called me a freak because of how fast i talk

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I'm sorry it is so sad how people pick on others bc they are different! We were born to stand out, don't let what they say get to you be proud of who you are!

message 9: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 56 comments I know and my friend, who they said this to, told me that and she said to them after they said i was weird and stuff "She's actualy really nice. You just need to get to know her." And i really like her because she actually tells me if i'm hard to understand, and she's honest about it.

Kathy ♡ (dattebayooo) | 71 comments My friends say the same thing to other people about me. Some people think that I don't want to make any friends or don't bother talking to other people because I don't talk as much. :/

My relationship with my parents: (If its in parentheses then that's usually what goes through my mind ;))
I don't really share much with my parents. They don't understand what the point of what I'm saying is. I talk about boys, my mom says: "No, you're too young to talk about boys, can't date until college." (WTF? Why college? I want high school to be memorable you know! -.-)
Then when my mom asks about school, I say it was good. Because school..it's full of drama. My mom wouldn't understand it :/ She would say: Stay away from those people, I don't care if its your friend. (Really? Then you're saying that I can't hang out with my friends. Even if its my best friend who you trust even more than me. THERE IS DRAMA EVERYWHERE YOU GOO!)
If I lose something or do something wrong, I usually tell my dad. Because if I tell my mom, it's not gonna be good. So I tell my dad first, because he doesn't yell and tell me off like my mom. He's calm and tries figuring out the problem with me :)

And I know that my parents are trying to be protective, but sometimes I think is too much. They say I should go out more. Be active. I only do stuff out in public if its with my family or friends. If its by myself, nope, not gonna do it. So if my parents have to talk to my friends' parents just so I could hang out with them after school, I'm not going anywhere. I might as well stay inside and play on my computer :/ Thats why I'm always inside. I can't go over to my friends' house unless my parents have talked to their parents -.-

But, I rely more on my friends most of the times. But I know I could tell my brother anything..except about boys and crushes ;) but besides him, I tell my friends anything :)

ShilvaH And her books | 57 comments My father died when i was about 1 or 2.

I've still got my mother and i thank God for that cause my mother is the best.Everyday we talked in the phone sharing and bonding.Even though she had been far away in diff. countries, working very hard for us(her work is being a domestic helper, now, a nanny ).I'm very proud of her no matter what people say because if my mother is not there, my brother and I will not have a comfortable life(we've got all we wanted such as gadgets and stuffs and learning in a private school) here in the Philippines. So when i definitely got in New York i'm going to study VERY HARD.So somewhere in the future i can take care of her like she takes care of us.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathy I feel like you just describe my parents the exact thing happens for me.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

ShilvaH I'm so sorry about your dad. It's amazing about your mom always working I'm proud of her and I don't even know her. Does anyone else stay home with you well she's gone?

I am truly lucky and so thankful to have them!!!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

It is great to have a good healthy and understanding relationship with your parents

message 21: by Dalu (new)

Dalu | 9 comments my parents are really understanding, they support me with almost everything i want to do i was thinking to change careers and the totally supported me they said that what i wanted was ok( i say olmost because they doesnt let me get a tattoo), although i feel so close to them there are some things i feel i cant talk with them (like boys for example.., or when i used to feel a little depressed last year)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Boys can be a difficult topic my mom always wants me to talk about that with her but its kind of weird. If there is anything you ever want to talk about that you feel you can't with your parents just send me a message I'd love to talk. I love you all :)

message 23: by Alex (new)

Alex Koontz (sexywomen) | 107 comments Tat I will nevet do is talk boyz wit my mom I rather talk to my ant or my friends

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Friends are the greatest for talking about boys but you better trust them to keep your secrets!

message 25: by Alex (new)

Alex Koontz (sexywomen) | 107 comments I always do

message 26: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments Okay, so it something that is silly, but I want it. My mom wont allow me to have a Facebook profile, because 1) there is cyberbulling 2) people can see whats posted like the government 3) she thinks Im too young. I understand her points 1 and 2, but three I don't because i disagree. I am 16 and i think I'm mature enough to have one.

Everyone in my high school has it and when i meet new people this is how they stay in touch. I understand everyone has it is not a reason to get one, but my point is when I meet others or want to converse with my friends that don't live close they use Facebook. Also, organizations that i like keep people posted about their group on Facebook.

I have been trying to convince my mom to let me have one but she still argues. What should i do?

message 27: by ShilvaH (new)

ShilvaH And her books | 57 comments You're mom is too strict.

message 28: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments Any advice on how to convince her?

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I do agree with points one and two about any social network and I hav the same problems with my parents. She needs to be able to trust you and you need to show responsibility. I prob won't be able to convince my mom
Because "as long as i live under her roof it will b her rules"

message 30: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments That is exactly what my mom saids too! It drives me crazy!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too just a few more years girly

message 32: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments Yes, two more years. :(

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

You'll make it and once you move out you will miss your parents it's a crazy part of life ;)

message 34: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments I bet. *sighs* i cant wait to leave but at the same time I dont.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Ya it's confusing I know

message 36: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments Well, ill be okay. Ive never had a problem with change.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

That's a good way to think about it!

message 38: by Ken (new)

Ken (kensamcampo) I feel like they are overprotective, but they are nice

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

it is better that your parents be overprotective they will stop you from doing a lot of things that you will later regret. they have been a teenager and they are just trying to help so sometimes it may get annoying they are trying to do what is best for you.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

I love my parents a lot. They aren't strict about whatever I do as long as it's not illegal and it won't harm me, but they're very involved in the things I do so they like to help out in the activities I'm in. I <3 my parents.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

thats good you have been through a lot and im glad you have someone at home who will help and support you. goodnite talk to you later

message 42: by A (new)

A H I love my parents a lot...they're strict, at times, they're just plain unreasonable and sometimes I feel like they just don't understand me.....but I suppose a lot of teenagers go through it....so I accept everything quietly knowing that this phase of life will pass...I'm close to them, but not close enough that I tell them each secret....in fact, I don't think I've ever have a proper personal chat with mom...

Inspite of all this.....<3 my parents a lot!! I know they mean good to me and that's what matters!

message 43: by Elise (new)

Elise (elisemae) | 77 comments That is the same here for me. I agree too that they are trying to do the best for us.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

I think most teens feel that way. :)

message 45: by A (new)

A H Elise wrote: "That is the same here for me. I agree too that they are trying to do the best for us."

Ya....maybe we don't understand their point of view now...but later on, we realise that all along they wanted our good.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

True that, Ruchi! :)

message 47: by A (new)

A H Yes....you're right too. Sometimes they think what they feel right is right for everybody and that's what starts the problem...

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that when we become adults we DO NOT have to follow them anymore, but we still owe them respect because they loved us and cared for us at one point in time when nobody else would. :)

message 49: by A (new)

A H H99 wrote: "Ruchi wrote: "Yes....you're right too. Sometimes they think what they feel right is right for everybody and that's what starts the problem..."

Exactly. That's what I'm trying to say. They aren't l..."

Agree with you.....even my parents try to shut me up and always object to whatever I do.....and I have to go along with it. They don't have all that caste/religon stuff problems....but still, things like dating, going to the theater with friends....and all - it's looked down upon. That's what's really irritating.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

I can't go outside by myself, but I don't even ask my parents why because I saw living proof of why it's dangerous to go out alone.
