Writing Contest #13
Fairies I can cope with (no comments from Mago) but teamed up with paperclips? This comp gets wierder(?) every month!
So long as it includes fairies and a jar of paperclips you are sorted. Maybe the fairy works in an office?
I love paper clips. I can never remember the word for them though - I have to do the action of clipping papers together. This is not connected to my age. Always been a blind spot. I've never been able to remember the English name for ermm.. bear with me ... foreget-me-nots. I mean, what a word to misremember!
What is it with all these quick people? Have you no time on your hands just waiting to be wasted whilst mulling over the essence of your stories? Have you no moments to fill pondering? Or am I just too dim to come up with an idea for my entry?Answers on a postcard please to ....
Mago (Mark) wrote: "What is it with all these quick people? Have you no time on your hands just waiting to be wasted whilst mulling over the essence of your stories? I just used minor characters that I already had. Who happened to be fae (fairies). Writing 200 words has never been a problem for me, keeping it below 200, now that is difficult. I only wrote a scene. (half a scene really, it's a very short scene for me). I assumed it was pretty much a bit of fun to keep us writing. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
FUN??? This is a deadly serious competition! If I beat Tony Q (again) this month, he owes me a pint of Addleston's Best Cooking Cider!! Don't talk to me about FUN!!!
I do apologise Emma. I just realised you are rather new to this wonderful group. Please take every post I make with a large pinch of salt (a slice of lemon and a bottle of tequila).
It's fine. I'm used to it from the real world. I grew up near a town called addlestone and thought I might have missed a brewery there or something. (Really it wouldn't be all that surprising for me to have done so. I'm not terribly observant geographically speaking)
Just a bit of fun - at this stage. It's when the voting begins that threats of physical violence may be issued.

Haha!

And I might not enter this time - Fairies are obviously my thing but paper clips - it stinks of fantasy too much and am rubbish at that
I've written mine now. The problem is it's 300 words. Time for some serious chopping! These challenges are a great exercise at making every word count!
Jonathan wrote: "I've written mine now. The problem is it's 300 words. Time for some serious chopping! These challenges are a great exercise at making every word count!"I don't find a problem with word count. All 3 of my last entries have been exactly 200 words! OCD kicking in.
Word counts are the bane of my existence. I end up having to replace all the linking words with commas or full stops (occasionally a semi-colon) but then I have no concept of how long anything is and managed to write a 150, 000 novel without really intending to.
Is it bad that I only just realised that these are about paperclips and I've been picturing staples? They all sound good though.
