I like this story. Reminds me of the first few chapters of Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone. It does leave me with a few questions that I think you would want to address in your first draft:
1. How did the elves lose their princess, Millie? Why was she living with humans in an orphanage?
2. Did she fall down during the run because of some kind of pubescent change to her physiology? Was her body reacting to the presence of the other elves?
3. Who is this former friend, and who are his/her parents? What compels them to attack the elves? How do they know where the elves are? How does Millie know this girl and her family?
Again, these are issues that understandably wouldn't be addressed in the idea phase; I just wanted to point them out for if/when you begin writing! :)

Most of my stories begin in our modern world, and then something cr-AZ-ay happens to make it all middle-earthy. This story's no exception.
So it begins with a girl (Amelia, Millie for short)waking up at the orphanage she lives at. She goes to school, and is having a pretty good day. Then, when they have to run the mile in P.E.( We all have to do that, and we all hate it, don't we?) she's suddenly a ton faster than usual. Then, her body is suddenly wracked with pain, and she's on the ground in a fetal position. Everyone is all huddled around her, concerned, when several tall, graceful figures push them aside, pick Millie up, and then she passes out. She wakes up to find that she's an elfin princess. So naturally, she has to be trained, but in all manner of old timey weapons, and how to speak eloquently. Her weapons teacher, is a boy her age named Arirang(Arir for short) They both kinda fall in love with each other, and everything's going great, until, on the night of a huge party, the elves are attacked, by non other than Millie's old best friend and her parents. All the elves have to flee, but eventually, they'll have to fight back. Tell me what you think.....
