This is a great excuse for me to read Solaris which has been on my TBR shelf for ages. If anyone is looking for suggestions, I HIGHLY recommend Let the Right One In, one of my favourite books in recent times.

I'll choose either Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola or HHhH by Laurent Binet as my book for the challenge
Yes, I am still thinking about
which I got at All Books 4 Less for $5 a while back: on my TBR but OMG 925 pages!!! We'll see..............

Yes but you have three books there in one volume. You probably only need to read the first book for the challenge and save the other two for later!!!

Funny how quickly my "maybe" became a "yes". Oh well. I'm going to read The Bat
or The Redeemer
. Both of which have been on my TBR list for a while.
I plan on reading The Secret in Their Eyes by Eduardo Sacheri and if I have time I'll also read Sorry by Zoran Drvenkar

I have a translated book I am anxious to start reading soon - not sure if it will make May - but will aim for it to happen - a challenge always gives me a goal.it is:
Hypothermia Arnaldur Indriðason
I'm in, although I feel I'll be cheating a bit as I'll want read The Rose of Fire by Carlos Ruiz ZafónIt's just a short story, but I love his work, especially this series.

My choice for this challenge is:
by Per Petterson. I've read two others by this author and have really enjoyed them.Cheers
I'm going to read The Bat by Jo Nesbo I'm waiting for it to arrive by post but it should be here soon, I've been wanting to read the Harry Hole series for a while now, so it works out.
I'm juggling so many books at the moment that I'm hoping for a quick read with this one Heaven by Christoph Marzi
. He's a new author to me so that could be interesting.

I couldn't wait til May for Salvation of a Saint, and followed it up yesterday with Murakami's After Dark... So for May tomorrow, I'm going to continue the Japanese theme with Revenge by Yoko Ogawa. This is just the challenge I needed to start powering through "the stack", even if I did start a little early :-)
That's ok Kent, it sounds like you are enjoying your "stack", which is wonderful.
I notice you are a new member...we would love you to introduce yourself here http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... so everyone else can say hi:)
Salvation of a Saint
After Dark
Revenge
Enjoy your reading!

I've chosen
The Map of the Sky / Félix J. PalmaShould be good as I throughly enjoyed the The Map of Time by the same author
I initially said that I wasn't going to participate in this challenge and then I discovered, by accident, that a book I'm reading with a buddy in another group falls into this challenge. It was originally written in Italian but is translated into English. I got excited about this. So if it's not too late to put my hand for this challenge I would like to join. ThanksThe book is:
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco

Another very special event in May is the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize 2013 - to be announced 20.5.13
http://www.booktrust.org.uk/prizes-an...
The Independent Foreign Prize honours the best work of fiction by a living author, which has been translated into English from any other language and published in the United Kingdom. Uniquely, the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize gives the winning author and translator equal status: each receives £5,000.
The Sydney Writers' Festival is on in May as well, from 20th to 26th, http://www.au.timeout.com/sydney/arou... and with international writers coming to this week long event, we just may be able to tie this festival into our challenge topic!
So our challenge for this month is to read a book which has been translated into English...post your link to the book here in the challenge thread when you have made your choice:)
