What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book in the 90's and it was so good I would really like to read it again so many years later and see if its as good as I remember.
it was set in VA I think. The dad is a miner or something like that, there are two sisters but no mother that I remember. One of the sisters dies in a creek on there property I think. There is incest and a rocking chair that I remember. I keep wanting to think that fall is in the title but im not having any luck finding it. Would appreciate your input if u think u know this book.
