Status Updates are going to be done every late Sunday night/early Monday morning my time. It is currently around 11:00 a.m. PDT on Tuesday here in California, U.S.A.

Ideally, what I would like is for all the Captains/Co-Captains to click on each Team Member's "view books" link that can be found in the last column of each Team's section on the Google Spreadsheet Team Assignments around 8:30 p.m. my time, so that their books are "refreshed" and show up in the Team's total. After "refreshing," it takes around 20 minutes to reflect a change in the Team's total.

I would also like to know when someone last did a "page count check" on a member. I'll be doing spot checks, but it would be nice to see that these have been done periodically... say, maybe twice a month? The easiest way to do these is to sort a member's bookshelf by page number, showing lowest first.

Radical Red's T.G. number is high due to a member signing-in late, who had been moved to the "holding team." They have been asked to move to another new Team.

Some members have been moved due to the belief they are bogus or have dropped out.

Cadet Blue shows Mary J's two books, and she is on PLOA (moved on spreadsheet); however, Mary: HDLS & Lisa Kay finished a book each just as the deadline was reached, and I decided not to wait for the 15-30 minute delay. So, the numbers should be good.

Mango Tango's team spreadsheet shows the last time a page count check was done on their bookshelves. When they add a book, I'm checking it every time I add new numbers to the spreadsheet. :)

The clock works for me. And the time would be 10:30 PM for me (this is more of a note to myself). If I'm awake I can do the update then but I may not get to it until early Monday OR I'll do it Sunday before bed if I need to get to bed before 10 PM my time.

Also, I'm the same as Steven -- I do a page count check every time I update our spreadsheet every couple of days, and our spreadsheet reflects that so it'll be easy to copy that info to this thread when I do our updates.

Looks great! My time for would be 11:30 PM so I will most likely post in the early AM on Monday (5-6 AM).

I update Moonstone's spreadsheet almost daily and I try to update the "last updated" cell. While I check page numbers each time, there are ebooks that might need to be verified and I do that once a week or so since that takes a little more time.

Whohoo! I'm in California, too. No confusing time zone calculation for me!

Okay, then Teresa and Rebecca, can you do your "clicking" Sunday night before you go to bed?

Sure thing! I don't go to bed at the same time every night so there is always a chance I'll be awake at 10:30 on a Sunday but on the nights I'm very sleepy I'll do my checks before sleep.

Great, Teresa. The cache updates a few minutes after my 9 P.M. every night, so I'd like to have all the clicking done before then.

I will be in bed by the time my update should be done. I will do it earlier in the day/night on Sunday. I am usually in bed by 9 pm since I am up early to walk my dog. My time would be 11:30 pm.

That's fine, Monica. Unless you can find a reliable Team Member to do it for you.

I think I understand now. We are really clicking for you so when you do your update by 9:30 PM your time you dont have to click. With that said, I can update/click between 10 and 11 PM EST.

I'm quite sure that our group updates our page count regularly too. I know that because the members I'm monitoring don't read quickly, I check every book's page count but I'm not sure about the other captains.

Other Hobbit captains check books regularly too. ☺ With every update of spreadsheet we check page number of books. You can see date of last check in team spreadsheet.

And we are discussing who'll do the clicking :) At least, one of us is in your time zone :D

It is just so much easier to check page numbers as I go. Most people only add one or two books at a time and then I don't have to sort a whole list by page numbers. So far I have been able to check every day since we split up team members between all the captains. Maybe it is harder for teams where only one captain is in charge of checking books for the whole team.

And I am the one in your time zone, so it's not a problem for me at that time.

Well, it is hard for me to check page numbers, because I inevitably find something I need to fix! A missing bookcover, no page numbers, no narrator, a book that needs to be merged with others, or something. As a librarian, I feel compelled to do so.

Or a member left a book off their shelf, changed their shelf name, haven't posted in several weeks. Then I have to send a PM...or rather PMs!

If something has the possibility of being questioned later, then I have to post it in the Just Page Numbers, so I don't lose track of it.

I am a fairly new GR librarian, but so far I have only been comfortable updating page numbers when I can get the book in hand. I have had no 'irresistible urges' to change anything else yet although I applied to become librarian because the wrong info on a book doesn't sit well with me. I err on the side of caution and want to make sure I know what I am doing better first.

I do also periodically check to make sure the members read books are tagged with the shelf if they will count.

I did have a question about ebooks. If there is a print version of it listed, can the captain use that to qualify the book like we can with audiobooks? Or should we still find the word count or KB and post it for approval in the Page Number thread? Also, if the Kindle version listed has a page count but not the general ebook version (i.e. from Smashwords), can we use that number as the page count for qualifying the book?

I would use the print version first. I've noticed some eBooks are way, way off on page count, whereas Smashwords has the word count. Love word count; so I'd divide by 250.

OK, it hasn't come up yet, but I thought I should be prepared. I have a few ebooks I might read during this challenge which don't have pages listed in GR. Some have print versions and some didn't.
