Qwantu Amaru (qwantuwrites) | 3 comments Hello all, I've founded a site called Author Discovery.com with the mission of exposing the best and worst in book marketing and author discovery. My latest blog deals with the subject of book trailers. Check it out! http://bit.ly/ZQIyKO

Qwantu Amaru (qwantuwrites) | 3 comments No problem! Did you create your trailers yourself?

Kim at 24/7 in France | 93 comments Yes, Qwantu, I did the trailers myself - a definite learning curve :)

I would also like to add something about bad book trailers. There have been some atrocious ones out there I have seen on Amazon.com for some books that have completely turned me off and made me uninterested in reading the book (some of the descriptions of the books seemed fine, but the trailer threw me in the other direction entirely). So sometimes having a trailer is worse than having none. Just thought I would chime that bit in.

KelseyKES | 4 comments If you're book trailer is professionally done with not just a picture and music slideshow... it should look a little like The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey's Trailer. This really grabbed me in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=...

Stephen Pearl (stephenp11) | 272 comments A thing I’ve been trying is to make a content video on a topic of interest and drop a short add into it. The thought is people watch the videos and after seeing the add a few times they follow the link and maybe decide to buy. It’s still early days but if you don’t try you’ll never know. The latest one I
I’ve done is here: http://youtu.be/zcg3hPhDLzA

That's probably the best trailer I've seen yet.

I put in a lot of effort for my own trailer and, as others have said, it had no effect I can see on getting people to try the book. I think my time would have been better invested in writing and other endeavors.

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) My editor put together a Vine video for my book. I believe it's designed for Twitter - it's six seconds. Doesn't really say anything about my book, but it's cute and fun.
