Tui Allen (tuibird) | 393 comments Horses of the Sun - a beautiful coffee table book. A gallery of the world's most exquisite equines and as poetic to read in places as it is beautiful.

Wooops! Sorry - this is supposed to be about fiction.

I also like reading the biographies of racing legends like Red Rum by Ivor Herbert... What a horse!
I once saw a double rainbow and made a wish to see Red Rum. The following summer I saw him... twice!

Tui said it... Sorry Red Rum isn't fiction but his story of rags to riches is STRANGER THAN FICTION, as the saying goes.

It was the universe granting your every desire - just like with the muntjac kiss.

Jennifer Priester (jenniferpriester) | 207 comments I don't think I have ever discovered my "true" favorite horse book, but here are a few that I have liked: Wild Blue The Story of a Mustang Appaloosa by Annie Wedekind Wild Blue: The Story of a Mustang Appaloosa
Runaway (Starlight Animal Rescue, #1) by Dandi Daley Mackall Runaway
Dark Horse (Starlight Animal Rescue, #4) by Dandi Daley Mackall Dark Horse
Both Runaway and Dark Horse are part of a four book YA series by: Dandi Daley Mackall. All four books have a lot of focus on horses.
Most of my favorites such as:
Bonnie Bryant: The Saddle Club and Pine Hollow
Walter Farley's The Black Stallion series
Joanna Campbell's Thoroughbred series
Lucy Daniels Horseshoe Trilogy
Terri Farley's Phantom Stallion series'
And these horse books out of the Animal Ark series:
Pony on the Porch (Animal Ark, #2) by Ben M. Baglio Pony on the Porch
Foals In The Field (Animal Ark #24) by Ben M. Baglio Foals in the Field
Horse in the House (Animal Ark, #26) by Ben M. Baglio Horse in the House
Ponies at the Point (Animal Ark Series #10) by Ben M. Baglio Ponies at the Point
Mare in the Meadow (Animal Ark Series #31) by Ben M. Baglio Mare in the Meadow
Pony in a Package (Animal Ark Series #27) by Ben M. Baglio Pony in a Package
Shetland in the Shed (Animal Ark Series #20) by Ben M. Baglio Shetland in the Shed
Stallion in the Storm (Animal Ark Hauntings #1) by Ben M. Baglio Stallion in the Storm
Racehorse in the Rain (Animal Ark Series #39) by Ben M. Baglio Racehorse in the Rain
Foal in the Fog (Animal Ark Hauntings #5) by Ben M. Baglio Foal in the Fog
Colt in the Cave (Animal Ark Hauntings, #4) by Ben M. Baglio Colt in the Cave
Stallion in Spooky Hollow (Animal Ark #53) by Ben M. Baglio Stallion in the Spooky Hollow
I also like these books:
Whirlwind by Alison Hart Whirlwind
Animal Emergency #9 Pony in Trouble by Emily Costello Although I like the whole series, this is the only horse book: Animal Emergency: Pony in Trouble
Fear of Falling (Wild at Heart, #9) by Laurie Halse Anderson Fear of Falling
Trickster (Wild at Heart, #3) by Laurie Halse Anderson Trickster
While most of the books I have listed are mostly children's books targeted for ages 8-12, this is the age level where I seem to find more of my favorite books at, both now and in the past, the last two are part of a really good and realistic YA series that goes by two names: Vet Volunteers and Wild at Heart. As far as I know all the books in the series were released under both names. The series is by Laurie Halse Anderson
And although not all books are on it, I have a Goodreads shelf specifically for horse fiction books: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/..., which you can look at any time you want to, to see what horse fiction books I have found and read.
