My name is Mal and I am a classic's junky! I have joined this site to revisit old friends and to nurture new friendships with works that have escaped me. I enjoy reading but have an affinity towards the classics. I am excited to be a part of this group and look forward to actively participating. I hope to forge friendships with like minded people that share my love of literature. Excited to be a part of this new group! Brilliant idea Shaun thanks for inviting me, so much fun ahead.

Hi all! I'm Kelsi. Looking forward to participating in this group and discovering some more classics. The Penguin Guide has a lot of obscure classics I have not even heard of, so I'm looking forward to working through this list as well as Boxall's 1001. Currently, I have read 16 of the books on this list. Books provide me with an escape. As a cheap, college/future law student, (I just completed my undergrad today!) books allow me to travel without having to spend money. Thoughts and perspectives I have never considered are introduced through books and situations I will likely never encounter too.
Furthermore, I'm a history major and I find it really interesting that people have not changed all that much as time progressed. We still face prejudice, hate, and fear, but always experience love, passion, joy, and sadness. Classics show these feelings and experiences are common regardless of time.
Congratulations on your graduation Kelsi!!! Reading fiction provides an escape for me as well, especially since I've been in grad school. I'm glad I joined this group as well because I've always wanted to read the Classics but I never know where to start.
Hello everyone and thank you for add, I would just like to introduce myself and make some new friends who are also lovers of literature. I look forward to reading and discussing many of the books within the Penguin classics library...I have a few I cant wait to get started on. Over the last few months I have become empowered to read more and more about different cultures and view points in life in general. I first started doing this with the study of foreign languages...However I have found that literature from around the world is just as valuable, not necessarily language accusation related but general stories and biographies from abroad. I look forward to meeting you all over the coming months and books read.-Best Regards and Happy Reading, Louie

I'm a long-time reader of Penguin books, so I thought I'd drop into this group and see what's up. I've always enjoyed the introductory essays they include with their classics series. Very useful and interesting.About me in brief - I'm an American expat living a quiet life in the south of France with lots of free time for reading.

I'm just a literature student and an avid reader. Many books from the classics range are titles I grew up with. Beneficial by far :)
Hello, I'm Lan- new to the world of reading and now writing. I never enjoyed reading when I was younger, and now, I'm trying to make up for lost times-in an obsessive way;) Because I was pretty much forced to read the 'classics', I never really appreciated any of it. After hearing Shaun's clever explanation of why they're worth the time and effort, I'm motivated to
