For my Android phone, I like to use the Mort Audiobook player. Works a treat. Automatically saves your progress when you exit. There are sleep timers, and you can set when to stop playback (after track/folder/etc.)The Librivox Android app is great too.
For my PC, I just use Windows Media Player, making a playlist from my files.
Hope that helps :)
thank youI have Mort on my phone but haven't used it in a while. I love the idea of the sleep timer and will have to try that...usually when I am listening to a book to go to bed too I go to one of my Amazon kindle books and do text to speech (or buy the audio file since they are cheap right now...). I bookmark the page that I was on when I got into bed just in case I fall asleep and don't turn it off.
Creating a play list on Media Player is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that

I think I tried looking for this a couple years ago messed around with a plugin for a while and then gave up.
I am still looking for a decent mp3 player on my pc. Here is a link to several discussions on Librivoxhttp://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Ch...
here is more from Librivox (everything here is cut and pasted from their website http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Ho...How to 'bookmark' a place in a file
Sometimes you won't be able to listen to a whole file. In that case, you will want your player to remember the place in the file, so that when you get back to listening, you won't have to start from the beginning of the file (a lot of !LibriVox files are 20+ minutes long). There are two ways to help you with this:
Splitting mp3 files into shorter tracks
Learn [:HowToListen/HowToListenWithYourCDPlayer#splitting_mp3_files: how to split your mp3 files].
Bookmark feature on software/audio players
iTunes/iPods
Newer versions of iTunes (above 5 I believe) will modify MP3 files to "Remember playback position" for playback on iPods. The iPod will pick up where you left off, even if you’ve switched over to another book or music. This feature can be enabled by right-clicking a track and choosing:
Get Info > Options > Remember playback position
Creative Zen and Vision M
All the Creative Zen V and Vision M players have a bookmark function where you can set up to 10 different bookmarks before you have to delete one.
Some CD players remember your position
While, strictly speaking, not a form of bookmarking, some CD players, both in the home and in the car, will remember where you were listening if you simply turn off the player (such as happens when you turn off the car). Usually, this means you shouldn't press "Stop" on the player, simply turn it off. And don't remove the CD from the player. When turned back on, if your player has this feature, it will pick up playing where you left off. Consult your owner's manual for details.
thanks for the reply! I actually typically use itunes because of this. But it was sort of a trade-off since windows media player has controls that easily let you speed up playback but it didn't bookmark your position in an audiobook and itunes would save your position but not let you speed up without some workaround using quicktime. It apparently lets you easily speed up on an ipod but not on the PC-- at least thats what I found the last time I went sifting through the internet for answers. Sorry I'm not a great help with helping you find a player. Recently I've been downloading librivox books as podcasts.

For my android phone I like Double Twist and Wimamp the best so far.
I don't really care for itunes and don't like using a different program for each way I purchase or rent books (ie Overdrive for library books, audible for one gotten from them)
Thank you for your responses
