He is supposed to be Maori. I am glad the kids are not as young in the movie as they are in the book. I have a 7-year-old and it broke my heart to think of her being ripped away and sent to Battle School. Luckily, she is not that smart (hear that Hegemony! Stay away from my kid)

Oh Ok, I thought he was Mazor.
I had to look this up because when you said Maori I was all "huh?!". He is Mazor but Mazor is half Maori (thank you Wikipedia) who are an indigenous Polynesian people from New Zealand. They tattoo their faces. No way did I pick that up from the books lol. I guess I should go read them again. Do they say in the books if he was tattooed??
I recognized the face tattoos immediately as being Maori, but also had to look up that Mazer (spelling based on google) was Maori. I don't remember it being mentioned in the books. In my mind, I imagined Mazer Rackham as being a skinny Asian dude. I have no basis for this, just my vision.
Me too! I had no idea he was Maori - but that makes more sense than what I thought when I saw the trailer - I just caught a glimpse of him and thought they were trying to make him look like an alien. I was confused. lol.
Like I mentioned in the Divergent thread, I was at comic con and saw the trailers. The one for Ender's Game gave me chills! It's going to be amazing. Plus, I talked to someone at the "Ender's Game Experience", his brother worked on some of the special effects for the movie and said that it stays very true to the book!
