It is below my ZPD, but I will read read it as a side book. ( A book I read, that isn't in my ZPD, while reading another book.)

I liked Simon because he was really brave throughout the series
My favorite character is Hodge because he is so powerful yet nice and he as a very unique past. I dont think anyone else has the same past as him
The City of Bones is a really good book about this girl named Clary who suddenly discovers shes a shadow hunter. The day or so after her mom gets kidnapped. While trying to learn more about the Down world(the place were Shadow Hunters, Vampires, Werewolves, and many other mythological creatures live. No, zombies do not exist it this book.), she is looking for her mom. It is the first book from the Mortal Instruments Trilogy. If you are really interested in reading this book I wrote a summary for it.
