I think it is more likely to happen. No one ran for Canada when the zombie bath salts thing happened. Believers flame nonbelievers, people want to be the first to instagram a sighting but we wait at home for the media to give us a ratinal explination. We do not act. We wait for updates.
I really liked the book, which surprised me. I couldn't stop reading it. I really like how the story was told. I think it was a little bit easier to keep track of everything because the characters were so distinct from one another. I'm interested to see how the movie is compared to the book.I agree that it is possible. The zombie phenomenon has been so hyped up though both fiction and speculation that I think people would be skeptical. I also feel as though most people would be unable to take care of themselves in such an extreme circumstance. I think that, if anything, it would be treated by the public initially just as it was in the book--as a new disease. I feel that the author did a good job keeping the book pretty true to reality where human nature is concerned.
I absolutely loved this book. It's such a refreshing take on the zombie apocalypse. I agree with Nikki in the fact that we do just sit around and wait for updates, rather than taking action. I also agree with the fact that there would be an internet war between the believers and the non-believers. Ultimately, I feel like if the zombie apocalypse were to happen, it would happen much like it did in this novel.Kristen: I'm sorry to disappoint, but the movie is going to be nothing like the book. I was already worried about it when I heard Brad Pitt was starring in the film (how can any one actor truly star in a work like this?), and I worried again when I heard mention of his character's family... meaning they changed the entire point of view of the story. My fears were confirmed when I saw a quote from the author, stating that the title has been kept, but not much else (paraphrase). Story: http://www.blastr.com/2013-5-13/world...
What a shame. It seems like it would be so easy to convert it into a movie. I guess that I assumed Brad Pitt would play the reporter. I know better than to expect too much from the movie. I've avoided seeing The Life of Pi for that very reason.
I could see it as a tv show. Band of Brothers-like tv show. Following 3 or 4 characters, each in a different continent.

Facebook, youtube, twitter, people would be aware of everything going on. God I love the internet.
Okay, thoughts?
