I am of the belief that it is impossible to be a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars (and by Star Trek I mean the classic Kirk & Spock Tv series and films - none of your later nonsense). As I may have subtly indicated I am a Trekkie (what do Star Wars fans call themselves?) and have never understood the lure of Star Wars. Do any of you have a foot in both camps?

I've seen more of Star Wars than Star Trek, so I'm biased from the outset. Although I'm pretty certain I could enjoy both just the same.

Not nuts about any of them, and I am famous for hating almost all tv and most movies, but I have enjoyed many hours watching old and new series Star Trek and enjoyed the first two Star Wars, the rest of the franchise bored me. Would never watch any on my own, but if the company I kept wanted to watch any of the above I would be fine with it.

Looks like its just me then!!!!
I have a co-worker who loves Star Wars (he has a Star Wars shrine in his apartment), but he hates Star Trek. Like you, he insists that you cannot like both.

I guess so - I am very fond of Spock and Kirk - haven't quite reached the shrine building, dressing up, convention attending stage though!!

i was thinking more of myself, in music i have always held you are either a john cougar mellencamp fan or a bruce springsteen fan, and conversely you either liked the stones or aerosmith, but not both, but not only have i found folks who liked both, or all four, for that matter, as i get less intensely to be a fan of the stones and johnny (still like them a lot, only not as into music as i once was), i find i appreciate bruce a aerosmith a little bit, especially bruce....
Thats true - I used to be obsessed by the Beatles and really disliked the Stones - and as I've become less Beatle mad I've been been more willing to admit that the Stones aren't really so bad. I guess it's like being a big football fan - you have to hate your teams biggest rival
My husband would say you can be both SW and ST: I am meh about both...in both cases prefer the older ones, tho. For myself in the music camps have at various times liked all of the above, but will never give up either Stones or Beatles, Aerosmith is a lesser god, old Bruce (Asbury Park and the E-Street Shuffle album + Darkness I keep),but Mellencamp? He's yours...
Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Nirvana, Agata Kristi, The Smiths...edge out all of the above for me.
Well, I lived on the outskirts of town
In an 8-room farmhouse, baby
When my brothers and friends were around
There was always somethin' doin'
Had me a couple of real nice girlfriends
Stopped by to see me every once in a while
When I think back about those days
All I can do is sit and smile
That's when a sport was a sport
And groovin' was groovin'
And dancin' meant everything
We were young, and we were improvin'
Laughin', laughin' with our friends
Holdin' hands meant somethin', baby
Outside the club Cherry Bomb
Our hearts were really thumpin'
Say yeah, yeah, yeah
Say yeah, yeah, yeah
The winter days, they last forever
But the weekends went by so quick
Went ridin' around this little country town
We were goin' nuts, girl, out in the sticks
One night, me with my big mouth
A couple guys had to put me in my place
When I see those guys these days
We just laugh and say, "Do you remember when?"
Yep, I'll take Johnny cougar!!!!!
