Ok Ashley. We're set for the 16th right? I don't know how many chapters this is because it's an ebook and I don't have access to it right now. How about 100 pages per day? If not, how many would work?

I have the audiobook, so chapters will probably be the best way to track it. But we can figure that out once it gets closer to the 16th

After all that I didn't start it anyway. darn. I'm going to start tomorrow.

I started. I'm just a few chapters in. Just a heads up, it starts kind of in the middle of the story and I was a little confused.

damn I hate when they do that as it makes reading very slow until you figure out WTH is going on.

The first half has 19 chapters, I assume the second has a similar number. Is 13 chapters okay?

I lied. The first half of the audio book is divided unto 19 parts, not chapters. And I just listened to all of them. I didn't realize I had gone so far.

My impressions through the second winter dance (you'll know what I'm talking about). (view spoiler)[ I am still a little confused about exactly what's going on. I know Nikki and Jack were a thing, and then something happened and Cole stepped in. I assume he's an incubus or something comparable in the Everneath.

I like that characters but its weird not having a continuous story. (hide spoiler)]

I only read the first 50 pages or so and got bored. I'm going to read more this afternoon.

I'm at work and have no access to my home computer so I'll send the 1.5 this evening.

I think its an interesting premise, which is keeping me going, but the first part was really hard to get through. I actually listened to the first chapter twice because I thought I had missed something before I realized that the author just wasn't telling the whole story.

I just finished chapter 14 - just shy of halfway. I hate when stories jump around in time like this one. I'm having trouble keeping track of what happened when. I'll read the rest tomorrow.

I haven't quite figured out what Cole is - some kind of demon for sure. An incubus makes sense but don't they have sex continuously like a succubus?

I find it strange that Nikki came back to say goodbye but hasn't said anything and is acting weird with Jack. I wonder what Jack did that set her on this path with Cole? I'm thinking he slept with Grace (is that her name?) at football camp and she bragged. I can't imagine a guy who loves loves loves Nikki would do something like that in a mere two weeks apart. He wasn't pressuring her to have sex though he was a manslut. So I'm just confused.

I liked this becaus eit was a different kind of story, and since I read so ,ugh paranormal, it's refreshing to find a new world/creature. Even though its still some sort or succubus/ incubus that doesn't have sex, which is kind of lame. There were definitely some confusing parts (mostly just the first chapter) and Nikki had her stupid girl moments.

I also liked the mythology references. I've always been interested in mythology. I'm not super familiar with the Orpheous(?????) tale but it sounds interesting.


I did get the ePub, thanks! I'll read that today. And start book 2 tomorrow (at least that's the plan.

I agree this book started out very confusing. I kept trying to figure out why everyone thought Nikki was a crackhead. Not until after chapter 17 did it really get explained - and then just that it was a good excuse for her behavior/disappearance.

And again, I liked the fact that it was different than the usual paranormal/young adult fare. It was a great mix of mythology and demonology with a new twist. Jack is my new book boyfriend! I was surprised when he took Nikki's place in the Everneath. It'll be interesting to see how she rescues him because you know that's coming.

I forgot me Nook so I'm going to read 1.5 tonight and then start 2.0 tomorrow.

Jack was a really amazing guy. And I am a thousand percent sure, that Nikki is going to try to get him back.

I always like getting the villain's POV and seeing his reaction to certain scenes. This was no different but I felt that Cole's entire personality changed and not for the better. He was so together, determined and complex in Everneath but in Neverfall he was kind of pathetic and hormonal. Don't get me wrong, I like Cole but I wanted to know more about him which didn't happen. I was hoping to find out how he was brought to Everneath the first time and his transition to the bad guy. I don't fault him for taking Nikki (though he was a little underhanded there). After all, he was just looking out for number one (like we all do.)

I'm busy at work today so I won't be starting Everbound until tonight.

I liked that he could finally admit that he has feelings for Nikki. I wish he could mature enough to realize she would be happier with someone else. Hopefully that will come in the next book. I feel like its starting a little in Everbound- but its definitely not where it should be.

Everbound (about half way through)

(view spoiler)[ The group has just gone through the water ring and come to the wind ring (if that doesn't make sense, stop reading now) Cole is growing some in his character, buts he's still really selfish. I'm kind of annoyed with Nikki for being so ridiculous in her attempts to try and rescue Jack with no plan or idea of how to do so. (hide spoiler)]

I'm about 100 pages in and plan on finishing tonight. Then I will comment.

Cole's stolen Nikki's emotions so how can he know his feelings for her are real and not just a by-product of her emotions? I find it hard to believe that Everlings can have real emotions after hundreds of years of sucking up everyone elses.

I made it to page 273 and have to stop. I'm too tired to continue but I will finish tomorrow.

I agree with your thoughts that Nikki should have a plan. I can't believe Cole doesn't have one either. They are just plodding on hoping something will occur to them. They are in the Ring of Fire right now.

Did you get to the part with the sirens? If so (view spoiler)[I liked that Nikki got a chance to see Cole's feelings for her (from his perspective). Maybe now she'll understand how hard this is on him. I still haven't figured out his end game. I guess Cole really does have feelings for Nikki. This quest must be killing him. I wonder if he hopes they won't reach Jack in time and then Nikki will be his? Hmmm I can't really fault him for that as it's his life too. (hide spoiler)]

That ending was spectacular and totally unexpected. Though I must say (view spoiler)[that I did think Cole capitulated way too easily about taking Nikki to the Everneath to rescue his nemesis Jack. And now I know why. WOW Cole...sneaky little bastard!

I flew through this book once the action started. I just had to know how Nikki rescues Jack and that kept me turning pages. I thought the design of the Everneath was a cool mix of mythology stories (Dante's Inferno, the Minotaur, etc).

Heck I was even beginning to like Cole (until the end, smarmy little jerk!) And now Nikki's gonna take down the Everneath. Hmmm that ought to be interesting. I can't wait to read Evertrue to see how Nikki accomplishes her goal, how Cole reacts and how Jack keeps Nikki. January 2014 can't come soon enough. (hide spoiler)]

I guess Cole did have a plan, but it wasn't the one we thought.

As much as I wanted him to find some redeeming qualities, he IS the villain in this story.

I'll be interested to see how this all pans out.

Yes he certainly is. Though you really can't blame him as he is only trying to survive just like everybody else.
