Melanie James (mhjames) | 2 comments I'm curious, how much do you draw on real life experiences and people in your writing?

Hi Melanie, Most of the things I write about are based on experience, very few things are complete inventions. They're not always my own experiences, sometimes their things that have happened to people I know. I think it's quite hard for a writer to work in an entirely invented landscape.

I totally agree that the adage "write what you know" is true. I always find it fascinating to see how true-life experiences weave themselves into novels or are changed, but based on reality.
