Sometimes Aurora thought about running away. She'd heard rumors- she bet she could make it. She knew a lot about the outdoors; which herbs to use, what mushrooms were edible. When she was young, she would sneak out and play with a village boy, a farmer, who taught her that kind of stuff. Then she got older, realized she could never be seen with him, and decided to end the friendship. She stopped seeing him and tried to forget about how she used to feel whole.
"I bet I could do it," she said out loud. "How hard could it be? They wouldn't notice me leave. I'd just have to steal some maps and I'd be set." Yet something kept her there- she had no idea what. It wasn't as if there were someone important counting on her.

Whenever he had some free time though he liked to come up to the cliffs. Feel that lovely breeze and feel like he could see everything. You couldn't see everything of course, but still it was a nice way to get away from everything and everyone. In that moment he was a bit damp, having ran through a hose before coming up here to the cliffs so as not to smell like the fields. Stopping at the sight of a girl dangling her legs off the edge of the cliff, Glenn paused a few feet away from her. Taking a moment to look over her. She was rich. That much was clear in a few seconds. Just the way she sat.....it may have been relaxed for her but her posture was still far better than almost all the girls in the village.
Just as he was about to ask her if she was going to be around her long she spoke. Judging from her words she wasn't talking to him. Either way he couldn't resist a comment. "They'd notice." Notice what? He had no idea. But with a rich girl like her? Anyone would notice whatever she did. He wasn't even sure who 'they' was. He just knew that she would have people monitoring her and making sure that she was safe and doing what she was supposed to. What was expected. Somehow he didn't think that it was expected that she be up here. Yet he didn't comment on that.....not yet.

A loud yelp escaped her as she jumped up, losing her balance. One foot slipped over the edge of the cliff, just for a second, and Aurora's heart dropped. She quickly pulled herself back, and then back even further, regaining her footing. She had yet to even look at the man who snuck up on her, she just stood there with her eyes closed, trying to calm herself down. I can't be seen up here. What if it's someone I know?
Aurora slowly counted to five and then made herself open her eyes, praying he was just some-
farmer. He was just some farmer. Aurora let out huge breath and grinned at him. "Hi," she said, unusually happy. It was a rare thing, but she couldn't help laughing at herself a little. She'd gotten so worked up over nothing.
Just some farmer. I've never met him before, and he probably has no clue who I am.
"I apologize for my rudeness, I was surprised." She glanced around. Maybe she could just play herself off as a village girl- she certainly looked the part. "What have you come all the way up here for?" She hoped if she made some small talk he'd forget all about her little rant and then she could go. This whole exchange would be forgotten.

"You weren't rude. I merely stated something. And I should ask you the same thing. You aren't exactly some village girl. Your posture is too stiff." Shrugging his shoulders Glenn looked at the girl with a slightly raised brow. He had no idea why she had jumped so suddenly. The breeches she wore were standard of the Royal Guard so she either had to be a part of the Royal Guard or a Noble who was able to wander about the Guard Headquarters without being suspicious. He was going to go with the latter simply by her reaction. Had she been a member of the guard she wouldn't have jumped like a jack in the box at his approach.
The girl was pretty in a delicate sort of way. Blonde wavy hair. Dark eyes. Yup classified as pretty. No doubt she was a bit pampered, sheltered, had a power that was easy to manage if she had one at all. Some people didn't. Either way she seemed to have an easy life of things and he found that she seemed to be a bit talkative. If anything she was going to be one of those rather girly girls. The kind that he tended to do his best to avoid.
Glenn looked at her in an almost expectant sort of way. Well he was expecting something from her. After all most people didn't talk to themselves up on the cliffs. And most people didn't sit at the edge like that. So there was obviously something troubling this girl and in his experience with girls....if you stayed quiet long enough their problems would just come spilling out of their mouths like an overflowing cup. It was a bit odd and yet he expected it now. So he was now waiting for her own problems to come bubbling up and out of her.

"My posture is too stiff?" Aurora's eyebrows shot up. Much to her annoyance, she noticed that her back was straight and her chin held up. She immediately slouched a little, feeling a scowl arise. "Why can't I be a village girl who has proper posture?" She noticed his eyes, taking in details. She knew she wouldn't convince him she was anything less than a noble. Already she could see him forming judgments about her- she was pampered, had an easy life, would never have to work. Aurora knew these things were true- that's why she escaped to the top of the cliff. Who was he to judge her? He didn't know that her parents ignored her, or that all she really wanted was to be outside.
Aurora felt herself defaulting to her noble girl mode. She was usually horrid to everyone who spoke to her, simply because she wasn't interested in conversing with most of them. But she didn't want to do that to this person. Here was a chance to have conversation with someone who didn't only care about the latest fashions- if only she could convince him she wasn't who he thought she was. Aurora glanced around them and then held up a finger, signaling for him to wait. She walked a few feet away into a patch of trees.
"See how the moss is only growing on one side? It only grows to the North. If you continued that way... you'd come to the wall." Aurora got a thrill just thinking about the wall. She'd spent a long time dreaming of going there. "And see those mushrooms? How they have little grey flecks on them? That's how I know those ones are poisonous." Aurora looked back to him triumphantly. "You can make assumptions about me based on my posture, but I'm not... who I seem. That's why I'm up here- and don't think I didn't notice that you didn't answer the question."

"Most Village girls don't get it drilled into their heads to have a stiff posture. Most guys don't get that idea either. Most people have hunched backs from working and being exhausted. You sit with the regal importance of a lady." Shrugging he watched as she seemed to puff up in annoyance like a kitten of some sort. It was quite odd. But then again if she was as pampered as he assumed then it wouldn't be too odd. After all she wouldn't really be all that accustomed to actually being able to get mad...their version of mad would most likely resemble a temper tantrum of some sort. Not very intimidating in the slightest. Actually...Glenn paused tuning out her words for a moment and looking her up and down with his eyes before tuning back into her words. Yup. She looked like the kind of girl who most likely couldn't look intimidating if she tried. Unless she had some scary power but he highly doubted that.
Watching her, Glenn found her to look rather complex. At that moment she looked quite torn as if she couldn't quite decide what to do about something. It was odd. Looking at the way her face contorted a bit around her eyes and around her lips he couldn't help but be a little curious as to what was vexing her so much. After all why would she feel like she had to get this worked up over something as simple as a cliff? He would've never asked why she was up here if she hadn't asked him first. Watching her suddenly jump to her feet before heading off towards a small gathering of trees he watched as she eagerly explained about mushrooms and moss. Wait.....what? Was he supposed to be impressed now or something?
"Okay.....so you know about some plants and you know about the geography of the city. You could've learned that anywhere. You could've learned that at the academy or you could've learned that because your father is a farmer or really anywhere." Shrugging his shoulders, Glenn rose a brow at her, his blue eyes looking almost through her rather than at her. "I'm not judging you. I've got every intention of joining the guard so it's not as though I really am jealous of you or anything. You could be part of the Grace Family and it wouldn't change my opinion of you." Sighing, Glenn ran a hand through his hair before looking around the cliff then returning his gaze to her. "I'm here, because I can be."

"Please. I'm not of any significant importance. And my father's not a farmer... he's-" Aurora cut herself off. She was trying to convince this guy that she wasn't a stuck up high-born; maybe flaunting her father's status wasn't the best idea. Plus, she doubted he’d know who her father was, anyway. Most people didn’t pay attention to who ran the Royal Guard.
Scowling at him, she shook her head. "You are judging me. I could tell the second you looked at me. I just," she shrugged. "I guess I'm sick of acting like a lady. I want someone to know who... Never mind. Obviously, it was a bad idea." She changed her mind, realizing she couldn’t just ask some stranger to be her friend. How embarrassing is that! I’m being pathetic, Aurora sighed. I shouldn't have tried to be nice to someone. I thought if I proved that I'm not a dumb girl he'd talk to me, but now I just feel stupid.
"Have fun joining the Guard, farmer," she said, turning to leave. She found it ironic that he told her he wasn't jealous because he planned on joining the guard. Wasn't that what was in the future for her? Her father expected her to. She wouldn't really mind it; fighting would be better than sitting around at home. But she had a feeling she wouldn't actually get to go out in the field.
Then again, if I told them about my power, I bet I would. Suddenly, and idea hit her. She stopped walking and laughed, hitting herself in the forehead. "I'm so stupid!" she said out loud. If she wanted to join the guard and get a position in the field, she could just use her power- they'd be none the wiser. This happened to Aurora all the time. She’d never quite gotten used to the idea of using her power- for a long time she didn’t realize it was a power. She just thought she was very persuasive.
