( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Walking among the forges, Lacey couldn't really fathom why people would willingly work here. Being among all the burning coals and fires and heat? Hell it was a regular people oven. Sure she liked being warm, hence why she worked at the bakery. But still...this was a little extreme. Looking around she was searching for someone to talk to and keep her a bit entertained while waiting for Jasper to be done for the day. He used to let her talk to him.....before she got too curious one day and leaned a bit too close to one of the swords causing him to jerk back and grab it to avoid from burning her. As a result he ended up getting a really bad burn on his hand. Since that day it was no more Lacey while he was working. So naturally....she had to look for someone else to talk to.

In the human oven, as it might be referenced to some, stood Dashton. He'd just finished a piece and a break sounded very appealing. As he pulled off his gloves, he wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead, probably smearing soot onto his face with the action. He'd slowly gotten used to the idea there was no way around staying clean here, so he'd abandoned all pretenses of trying to remain that way. Every part of Dash probably reeked of metal and distgustingness... oh well. He'd clean up later.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Pausing at the sight of the tall form with a mess of blonde hair that now had soot in it, Lacey smiled. This was Dashton Atlas. The Royal Guard boy who chose to work in the forges rather than to be a guard. Odd choice but she wasn't one to judge and seeing as how he wasn't doing anything at that particular moment she walked up. "Hey Dash." She'd talked to him before. A few rare occasions. It wasn't like they were buddies or anything though. Just people that had said their hellos in passing before. Nothing more or less.

"Lacey-Whom-Smiles-At-Passing-Stranger, how do you do?" he asked, unable to keep from smiling. He'd always seen her around, that's what it was like in Porcelain Glass. You saw people, you knew their names--some you just didn't talk to. It was a respect kind of thing... though many people defied the defacto rules. Some people like Lacey. Dash met her gaze, letting his hands drop to his sides--still holding his gloves. It was a practiced movement, one that showed full attention in the eyes of the beholder.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Now while some people would've just nodded and said 'fine' or whatever...Lacey didn't do that. She instead went into conversation. Someone asked her a question they would get the full on answer. "Oh, I'm good. Hot being around the forges, just came here from talking to a noble. I think he was avoiding a party of some kind." Shrugging her shoulders she raised a brow and wished she had something to sit on....or lean against or something to do with her hands instead of just kind of stand there. "What about you? What are you doing? Or rather taking a break from doing?" Ehhh some people might've described Lacey as nosy.....well she was. She was a curious little soul and she liked to know all sorts of things about people.

If it was so hot, why was she still here? Dashton smirked, the party probably wasn't the only thing he was avoiding. Though that was a pretty assumptive thought--she wasn't intolerable, it just took the right kind of person to be in her presence, as he had gathered before in conversations with her. He wasn't the right person, but he had some of the qualities that person might possess. "I'm working." he summed up, glancing around--yep, he was still in the Forge. Still working. "I just finished the piece for the machine the smith needed to replace. Blow glass stuff... pretty exhausting."

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay "I can imagine." Lacey had seen some of the blow glass stuff. The orb things with the long spouts that people stuck in plants so they wouldn't have to water them for a few days. She'd also seen someone blow one up before. From what she saw it looked exhausting. Looking about the forge she didn't know what her brother or Dashton saw in working at places like this. It was hot, people burned themselves all the time, it was exhausting, and sometimes whatever you made? Didn't even work out. "You're so informative." She drawled out at his response. Working. Well no duh, she wasn't stupid. "I swear getting people to talk to other people is worse than pulling teeth out."

"Maybe you're just not asking the right questions." He retaliated, meeting her brown eyes with a smirk in his. He could imagine the troubles a girl like her faced. Absolutely nothing to do with her days besides seek conversation out of the unwilling. How could one live such an uncharmed life? He confined to watch her, sizing her up like she had done to him. What was she really doing here? If she was looking for her brother, would she not just see him at home later? Or was it that important. Or maybe it was an entirely different ploy altogether. "Pulling teeth, hmm? Sounds dreadful."

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Oh? So there was a chance to get more information out of him? "Well then, what are the right questions? or do those also have to be found out? Because if that is the case, there should be hints." Shrugging her shoulders slightly she looked over to her left at one of the forges, the coals within burning brightly under the heat of the fire. "Really? Think it sounds dreadful? Not me. I just love pulling people's teeth and getting my teeth pulled." Looking over at Dashton her brows rose slightly as she smiled in an overly cheesy sarcastic sort of way. She didn't understand him. He was a member of the guards wasn't he? So why not work as a guard?

"Hints shalt not be given." he said immediately. Dashton wasn't sure what was compelling him to continue this conversation, it certainly wasn't in his interest to charm her... he was in some weird way, amused. He wrinkled his nose at her overuse of witty sarcasm, noting the girly tone of her voice when she forced it to the pitch. That might have stung him a bit, had he been taking her seriously... or really trying to ease her into this conversation. Maybe that's why Dash was so intrigued. He had almost seemed to offend her and he hadn't even tried... just by breathing? "I'm sorry, am I bothering you?" he asked, raising a brow.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay "Bothering me?" Lacey tilted her head slightly to the side genuinely confused why he would think. Maybe it was the use of sarcasm? Hmmm..... Shaking her head she shifted her weight leaning a bit on her back foot, "No. Sorry, I'm spastic. Jasper's always telling me to tone it down around people." Shrugging her shoulders Lacey paused before she couldn't help but blurt out another question, "So why do you work at the forges? Is it your passion? Or did you just not want to be a guard? You don't have to answer if their too personal questions." Although she would like an answer, Lacey wasn't one to force answers out of people....she could. She didn't though.

Dash made a face... she really knew how to burn through topics, huh? It took her like 2.5 seconds to change her thought direction, he wasn't even sure how those two things had connected. One second she was talking about her spastic personality, the next she was looking into the depths of his soul. "Uhm, it's not a passion. I like being a guard... I just prefer this side of the work force. You know, the kind that's actually working." he answered, running a hand through his hair. He wasn't really sure where she was going with this. Her off handed questions had kind of put him off his game a bit.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Nodding Lacey took a moment to think of that, it made sense. Really it did, then again she couldn't help but feel as though he felt nervous around her. As though knocked off his feet. Well she could understand that. A lot of people felt like that around her. Her mind whirled at speeds too fast for most people to keep up with her. Shrugging her shoulders he paused and bit her lip, to keep from blurting out more questions. Shaking her head as though she could shake off the questions she smiled, "Sorry. I'm bothering you. I'll just go." Nodding she stepped backwards a few steps before turning and ducking out of the forgery deciding to go find someone who might be able to keep up with her.

♬ ☮ Priya ♀ ♏ {Smoke and Starlight} ☠ ☯ (darkskies) | 68 comments Reece walked around the different forges, lost in thought. She was on a break and since she wasn't hungry, she decided to find forgers to irritate. If smithies among themselves weren't competitive enough, you don't want them to be pitted against the forgers. It's a matter of pride, something you grow listening to your father groan about. While the forgers basically shaped all kinds of metals, blacksmiths did the real work of turning the black metals into something useful - One of the things her father never failed to remind her.

Noticing Dashton, Reece grinned, her mind working with ideas to irritate him. "You sure look like you're working hard, Atlas." She said loudly to the idling boy as she steered and started walking towards him. Though she would never say it out loud, but she admired the guy for refusing to be a part of Royal Guard. Reece herself would rather work in her shop than be a part of the damn Guard.
