MEGA-DARK discussion
INTRODUCE YOURSELF!

I'm a writer living in New England.

My novels actually fall into the category of YA fantasy, but for some reason my short stories are mostly dark fantasy and horror. And, my novel readers have assured me my horror writing tendencies show through in my books as well ;). I am working on a novel and two novellas right now that fit as dark fantasy and horror as well.
My reading preferences fall into those categories, too. I'm not big on gore (although, yeah, I love Stephen King!) and prefer more psychological horror. And to my joy, the horror genre is growing among YA books. The Montstrumologist series by Rick Yancey is one of my favorite series ever--deeper and darker and more beautifully written than most adult books I've read.
Looking forward to finding some great new books to read here :).
Hi, I'm Shay
I do write YA but it is more on the dark side. I don't like focusing on romance since reading it usually bores me. I prefer the darkest kind of dark with demonic possession and terrifying psychological horror. I have been working on writing even darker since it is what I enjoy reading and my second book is currently becoming increasingly darker than my first which I find an improvement

Hey, I'm Casey, Tnx for the invite Mark, and I look forward to being introduced to new titles!
Very nice group! I liked also the description and why you found it, Mark! I must say I am also a big heavy metal lover for many years and like horror, dark and fantasy related subjects.
I am a digital artist and author and have just ventured into writing Dark Fantasy Fiction for fun :)

Hi Mark and all group members,
Mark - bravo on creating Mega-Dark, I'm glad to be a member, it looks like a really interesting group with intelligent members and I look forward to participating in discussions.
I write dark and wickedly humourous literary fiction, and have had more than thirty short stories published in noteworthy literary magazines and anthologies in the USA and Europe.
My recently published collection of short stories, entitled
THE PARALLAX GROOVE,
is available on Amazon USA and on Amazon UK.
The first independent review for The Parallax Groove on Wordpress includes:
“...no other stories on the planet remotely like those in
The Parallax Groove.”
The complete review can be seen on the Amazon page for the book.
Excerpts from The Parallax Groove, a synopsis and the link to the Amazon page can be found on my Goodreads page:

I shall be back to Mega-dark soon.

This group sounds right up my alley. I'm a Goodreads author and I write and read some pretty dark stuff. I write romance, but don't let that fool you.

I created this group because I was tired of wading through other groups looking for people who like the kind of books that I do. I suppose my reading tastes have been influenced by my love of heavy metal. I like being absolutely crushed by a book. It doesn't necessarily have to be violent (though that is a big plus), but I like it to be aggressive, bold, and challenging.
Since I found so few of the kind of books that I liked to read, I decided to write some. I'm working on the final book of The Age of Apollyon Trilogy, and I crammed it full of as much epic darkness as it could hold. I think I might have overdone it a bit on the first one, so the subsequent books focus a bit more on character, but they're still dripping with ultra-Gothic goodness. Check them out if you're looking for something fresh to sink your teeth into.
So introduce yourself, start a discussion about your favorite books and authors, tell us about your writing, and meet people who live in the same imaginative world as you.
