since writing last, the weather has turned foul, with maybe a few hours partial sun. The clouds have been magnificent though, and indoors I continue to read to make up for the times whwn travelling when I was so limited. I did get to read some gems though when I was away, that possibly I never would have looked into before. Now I have the overwhelming choices in the library. I still have not been able to get my hands on Railsea, but I did grab a few Mieville and have Cortazar on reserve.
I am appropriately reading a book on the emotional calander and how the weather affects it is one chapter. Plus this odd fantasy co- written by Jane Yolen and Midori Snyder
I wonder how they work, who writes what?
I had a busy weekend and did not want to be too distracted, so held off on the Mieville feast.
the sun has come out!I am grabbing Embassytownand off to the jazz festival where I shall lie on the grass and read while I listen to music!
Poor man! but polar bears dont love the heat,do they? How do they do at a beach? Its not miserable there is it?
The jazz festival was wonderful, the wind up weekend sun and sultry sounds, perfect backdrop for my reading.
Once again China Miéville
has taken an absolutely impossible scenario and uplifted the banal and the incomprehensible into a probing examination of societies in transition and the nature of language.Kind of like jazz does for music...
