I'd like to nominate California Sorcery. This is the collection that introduced me to Richard Matheson years ago, and it remains one of my favorite collections to this day.
Most (if not all) of the authors whose stories are collected in this book were writers for The Twilight Zone. There's an decent mix of genres represented as well. Very good stuff, and I highly recommend it even if my nomination doesn't win! :D
Becky wrote: "I'd like to nominate California Sorcery."Thanks, Becky. I've added it to the bookshelves and it'll be on the August read poll that'll be out in a little over a week.
That is sad news. Matheson has always been a favorite author of mine.
Werewolves in Their Youth by Michael Chabon. I'd like to add this dark look at human relationships into the poll. I've heard good things and have always wanted to read it.
Matheson would be great, but it seems several people like Lauren Groff, a relatively new author. I nominate Delicate Edible Birds by her.
I nominate Lesann Berry's Passing Judgement. Loved it, myself and have begun reresding some of the stories.
Hey I'm new here. But I'd like to nominate American Salvage by Bonnie Jo Campbell. There are some great short stories in there and one of the stories she turned into her latest novel.
I'd like to recommend Gabriel Garcia Marquez's short stories; he's a huge author in the magical realism genre. Magical realism essentially blends the line between reality and fantasy, where truly unbelievable things happen in everyday life to little amazement of the people in the story. The genre (and a lot of Garcia Marquez's stories) relate to postcolonialism, regarding the Carribean.
Cheryl wrote: "I would like to nominate Modern Library's, Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural..."I agree here -- I'd much prefer an anthology including several authors to a collection by a single author.
