Irene opened the rotted wooden door of the Astronomy Tower hoping to find some sort of peace and quiet from yesterday's loud, brash opening party. While she did manage to find a secluded area where no one managed to come across her the pounding of the music was unbearable and she had to sleep on an aching headache. Sitting down on the stone ground her legs dangling, one arm clutching the railing in front of her she fished out a book from her bag taking in a deep breath at the fresh open air that she was surrounded with. This school might have been completely different to what Irene was expecting but the view of the grounds was breathtaking.
Klementina walked into the astrology tower and sighed. She didn't notice Irene as she sat on the opposite side of tower. She looked around and thought about it all. Was it really worth it? She hadn't talked to anyone in the past days and one girl had already tried to push her into a fountain. And that was only the beginning
Irene looked up from her book as she heard the creek of the Astronomy door open and a girl around the same age as herself walk in and sit down. Irene sighed cocking her head and looking at the girl with only the slightest of interest. "You need something?" Irene asked.
Klementina turned around to see another girl."No sorry, I just came up here... To get away." She mumbled the last part. She didn't know this girl and for all she knows she could be of Sadie's slaves ready to push her off the tower or something.
Irene raised her eyebrows in surprise at the girl's reaction. She looked absolutely terrified. Well, that was a first. "Oh wow, you look terrified.." Irene voiced out loud slightly bemused at the predicament this girl was in. By what she knew all the people at a school such as this one she had never seen such a terrified girl.
Klementina calmed down a bit. " You're not one of Sadie's friends, or a black gavel are you?" She asked surprised she wasn't covered in dye or her phone had exploded.
Irene looked at the girl curious. "Er, no. Who is this Sadie bird anyway?" Irene asked. "Sounds like a cow based on your facial expression." She started again at the second part of the girl's question. "Black? No way, red's more of my colour."
Klementina looked at her. What was with all the animal references, and didn't she know about the teams? "Um...Yeah. So anyway, in guessing your new?" She asked already knowing the answer, but taking the advantage of the time she had before this girl found out she was a toxic.
Irene folded a page in her book, keeping a thumb between the pages in case this conversation turned out to have no interest for her and she wanted to continue to read. "Well yeah, you obviously haven't seen me around. But just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm ignorant and don't know anything about this place, of course I do. The teams with their stereotypical hierarchy of where people should and shouldn't be slotted in into human shaped moulds," Irene continued in slight disgust. "It's quite medieval for a school so lavish."
" I know right. It's all so high maintenance. People doing anything for their social status. It's kind of sad really, some people will do absolutely anything to get on the radar. I'm way off that radar and I truly don't care."
Irene studied the girl for a while before replying. "But I think you do. It's only human nature for one to feel undermined and beneath others which has not only become a distinguished feature since your first starting here, but it is almost as if you've become used to it." Irene said. "You're only lying to yourself by saying that you don't care, why else would you come up here and say what you said to me?"
