This is a contemporary romance novel that I wrote. I myself am Autistic. Likewise, I wrote my heroine as Neurodiverse, however, I never mention that. In fact the indications that she is Neurodiverse are quite subtle and only people intimately acquainted with aspects of Neurodiversity would have any clue at all. (There are hints - her parents worry quite a bit about her; she has some difficulty "reading" people; she is exceptionally intelligent in some areas but not in others etc.) I wrote her as a character who is likely not diagnosed but who is noticeably "quirky" or "eccentric" in the eyes of NT's.
In any event, let me reiterate that this novel is quite explicit in places. Thus, you should NOT read it if you are not interested in, or are offended by, graphic descriptions of sexual situations or mature language.
If that is not the case, though, and you would like to read something funny and sexy please check it out! It's launching in a few weeks.
In some ways, I must admit, this book is sort of an "oh really?!" to all the assholes who think I don't understand humor, sarcasm, irony, snark or sex just because I'm Autistic:)
Best,

Literary fiction (contemporary)
This book provides a realistic portrayal of an autistic woman whose main interest is cooking. It's not perfect regarding neurodiversity politics, but it is pretty good and provides a refreshing female autistic protagonist who doesn't fit the standard techie stereotype.

Song of the Lioness Q
uartet Tamora Pierce
It's YA fantasy and does have some issues. (The author is much better about these issues now- this is her first series, but there are some stereotypes and issues pretty typical to fantasy written by white people.)
Anyways- anyone else suspicious that the generic "insanity" that runs in Alanna's family might actually be autism?

Julie, I'm going to create a seperate thread for children's books. As for YA, Alyssa posted The Song of the Lioness Quartet which is YA.
