Started it today. First read, I kept putting it off after seeing the disappointing Will smith flick.
Oh, don't go by that movie. I think there were a total of 3 movies made from this book.Last Man on Earth was one, I believe. Will Smith's was the third. I can't remember the name of the second one.
I have only seen the Will Smith movie version, and I thought it was good, but not reflective of the book. Much like Stanley Kubrick's The Shining did not reflect the book. If that makes any sense to you. :)
Found it to be NOTHING like the movie! Also enjoyed the short stories that followed it in the paperback I purchased.Reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. Keep wanting to compare it to Boys Life and can't. Maybe it's the setting and set in the 20's but as great a classic literature writer as a Mr. Bradbury was he can't seem to spin a tale quite like Robert McCammon!
Lavonne, when I read Something Wicked This Way Comes, I also was having a hard time not comparing it to Boy's Life. When I did compare it, BL came out ahead. :)
If by, "the movie," you mean the Will Smith version, you're right. The Vincent Price original, "The Last Man on Earth" is very faithful to the source and my favorite version. I do like the Will Smith version too as an adaptation.
