A favourite dark tale that would have many adaptations and imitators.

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 101 comments one of my favorites~I look forward to reading it again

Char Me too, Joanne!

Jeanne First time for me!

Char No worries, Jeanne! I read it for the first time only just last year. It's never too late. :)

really Char? this is on I've read a couple of times over the years but still look forward to reading it again~ I'm sure you will find it was worth the wait Jeanne

Algernon (Darth Anyan) | 17 comments Started it today. First read, I kept putting it off after seeing the disappointing Will smith flick.

Char Oh, don't go by that movie. I think there were a total of 3 movies made from this book.
Last Man on Earth was one, I believe. Will Smith's was the third. I can't remember the name of the second one.

I have only seen the Will Smith movie version, and I thought it was good, but not reflective of the book. Much like Stanley Kubrick's The Shining did not reflect the book. If that makes any sense to you. :)

Lavonne | 9 comments Found it to be NOTHING like the movie! Also enjoyed the short stories that followed it in the paperback I purchased.

Reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. Keep wanting to compare it to Boys Life and can't. Maybe it's the setting and set in the 20's but as great a classic literature writer as a Mr. Bradbury was he can't seem to spin a tale quite like Robert McCammon!

Char Lavonne, when I read Something Wicked This Way Comes, I also was having a hard time not comparing it to Boy's Life.
When I did compare it, BL came out ahead. :)

Marc Allen (cramnella) | 10 comments If by, "the movie," you mean the Will Smith version, you're right. The Vincent Price original, "The Last Man on Earth" is very faithful to the source and my favorite version. I do like the Will Smith version too as an adaptation.

Marc Allen (cramnella) | 10 comments The second version of "I Am Legend," was "The Omega Man," staring Charlton Heston. Very 70s and my least favorite filmed version.
