Lyra Meridian | 1 comments Can anyone think of clichés used in fantasy & sci-fi? There's the chosen one(s), prophecies, evil governments in dystopia, insta-love, beauty equaling good/ugliness equaling evil, the dark lord/evil king. . .

Raevyn "Lucia" [I'm in it for the books] (raevynstar) | 3 comments Taking the main character away from loving parents and bringing him/her to cruel relatives until he/she finds out he/she is a magical being.

Leven Thumps, Harry Potter, and Septimus Heap, anyone?

I mean, as long as they're done well I'm okay with stuff like chosen ones, but that^ is the most overdone plot in fantasy. X-X

LOVE TRIANGLES ARE ALSO OVERDONE. I know I'm writing one, but that's the keyword: one. *stephaniemeyershouldhavestopped attwilightinmyopinion*

Zanib (dawnofthebooks) | 2 comments The so called 'kick a**' characters. I mean really, can we have normal people for once?

Now, the thing with clichés is that if executed properly, they won't seem too cliché... Like the whole Harry Potter thing @Raevyn mentioned. It doesn't get in the way of the reader enjoying the story. In fact, it adds a lot more to it, so it's fine.
