Anatomy of a Poet
About the Book:
We are all products of our environment. Everyone we meet, every new experience and adventure we have, every book we read, every thought we think, and every difficult lesson we learn touches us in some way. Life is continually changing us. It imperceptibly molds who we were into the unique being we now are.
"There is a brokenness out of which comes the unbroken; a shatteredness out of which blooms the unshatterable; a sorrow beyond all grief which leads to joy, and a fragility out of whose depths emerges strength. There is a hollow space too vast for words through which we pass with each loss, out of whose darkness we are sanctioned into being." ~Bri Maya Tiwari
That quote astutely describes not only my life, but the poetry in Anatomy of a Poet.
One of six children, I grew up in a small Ohio town and married my high school sweetheart at nineteen. A Vietnam War widow at twenty, I went on too soon to marry and then divorce twice.
I made a lot of choices, some good, some not so good, but as one of the poems in the book ends, "...at least I made choices. How sad for those who merely hitchhike along, never daring to choose at all."
Anatomy of a Poet was written over a period of nearly forty years. The poetry is rich with memoir, humor and, at times, it is sensual in nature.

I'll nominate
for book of the month. This is a really good read and it is hard to pin it down to a single genre. It is a good v evil story with small elements of urban fantasy, science fiction, paranormal fantasy, romance and action adventure and it is beautifully written and described. I think it will a very broad appeal. My review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I would LOVE to nominate
It just got released, and I would be willing to give copies of the ebook to everyone no charge :)
Synopsis : Kelly Callahan had everything going for her. Everything that is, except for a relationship. It wasn’t for the lack of trying, it just seemed like she was a magnet for all the wrong ones. But all of that was about to change the minute she laid eyes on Jake.
On a dare from her close friend, Michelle, Kelly accepts a challenge to date and become Jake’s girlfriend within three months. The consequence of losing is global humiliation, and she refuses to lose.
Enlisting the help of her childhood friend and confidant, Brian, Kelly manages to catch Jakes attention. She also unknowingly hooks Brian who tries to sabotage the plan. Kelly finds herself with a dilemma; take the final step with Jake and win the plan or follow her heart and reveal her feelings for Brian.
I nominate
by Jim C. HinesWhat would happen if an author went back to the darker themes of the original fairy tales for his plots, and then crossed the Disney princesses with "Charlie's Angels?" Hines delivers a new take on what happened to Cinderella and her prince after the wedding. Original.
