Hey girlies!
In about three weeks I'm going to some kind of gala dinner, and I need a dress.. So I was wondering if any of you girls would recommend a website that has some pretty dresses? :)

So I was thinking.... What is the difference between a NOOK, an E-reader, and a Kindle? :)

Yeah.. I am too xD
So if you have a tablet that supports e-books, is it all types of digital books it supports then? :)

message 7: by Kristi (new)

Kristi I think it depends on the model - for example Amazon Kindle reads .azw (format only available at Amazon) and .mobi files, but not an .epub file (as far as I know). A Nook and a Kindle Paperwhite are e-readers like Kobo Glow or Sony PRS-T1 (the model I own) and what made me choose one instead of a tablet is the e-ink screen, love that I can read under direct sunlight without any glare. I think that whether your tablet supports all e-book formats depends on the app or program you use for reading them. My Sony does not read all the formats either, but I use Calibre to make the file suitable.

Angie | 59 comments I'm not sure what the difference s are, but Tom my son reckons the nexus 7 is the best one to buy. He's always ripping on my kindle. I just smile and nod when he says to change but I never do.

message 9: by Parvathi (new)

Parvathi | 4 comments But isn't the Nexus 7 a tablet? An ereader like the kindle is definitely a better choice for reading. Easier on the eyes, imho.

message 10: by Angie (new)

Angie | 59 comments He says you can just get a kindle app for it. I don't know if that would allow all the features like the huge amount of books you can get on the kindle. Because they are all Amazon s book catalogue aren't they?

My Kindle is a kindle fire, so it is a tablet, I have to have the brightness really low as light hurts my eyes. My glasses are the darkest reactive lenses I can buy . But I like being able to use goodreads in my room and its cheaper than a pc.

message 11: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Love my Kindle...only they don't make my model anymore.
Mine is the keyboard.

If I was to choose a new Kindle, it would be the Paperwhite.

message 12: by Angie (new)

Angie | 59 comments So do you go online on a pc or laptop? I've thought about getting a laptop but it's the cost.

message 13: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I have a PC. (laptop would be ok too)

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Are you into gaming? PC

If you just want to internet, and fool around, and laptop would be ok.

But either way...it would be fine.

message 14: by Nikki (new)

Nikki lap tops can over heat if there is not a lot of space on the bottom to allow air flow for cooling.

message 15: by Angie (new)

Angie | 59 comments I don't game, my reflexes don't work fast enough. I won't drive for the same reason, that's very frustrating but I live near the tram or my son gives me a lift.

I think I'll definitely save for a laptop. My Kindle works for now though.

message 16: by Parvathi (new)

Parvathi | 4 comments I use a desktop. Something's gone wrong with my laptop, need to get that fixed. Love my Kindle Touch and Paperwhite for reading.

Gaming for pc? Oh yes! I enjoy it.

Brooke (brookeluvsbooks) I'm going to get a Nook for Christmas and I was wondering if there was anywhere besides B&N that I could get books for the Nook.

I've just found out how to do that!! It was last night as well. What you do is tap the add book/author at the top of this box then change link to picture, then type the name of the book in the search and that's it. I couldn't believe how simple it was . I've been trying to figure it out for nearly a year, lot.I'm putting pictures everywhere now though:D

In don't know how to but photos onto threads though

Thanks, but I meant photos then.. But thank you just the same :D

message 21: by Angie (new)

Angie | 59 comments I must of been the only person on here that didn't know how to put pictures of book covers on posts! At least I can now, lol. I've been told how to do photos but can't make sense of it. I think you need to use photo bucket, maybe.

Well better late than never, right? ;) lol

Yeah, someone told me too, a while back, but I still can't figure out, how it's done... It's weird that it's so difficult xD

Angie | 59 comments I belong to the horror aficionados group and one of the threads is about what second hand book scores we've bought. Everyone buts photos up of what they've bought. I'm so jealous of those photos!!

Laura | 156 comments Does any of you know where you can get cheap used books online?
Right know I'm using mostly Awesomebooks.com, but it would be great to know another website :)

message 26: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) I use two sites but they both depend on you listing unwanted books as well. Still they do mean free books.

The first is
www.readitswapit.co.uk

The second is
www.bookmooch.com

Tom my son has showed me how and now I've done it a few times. You need photobucket and blue tooth. Betina do you have those? The photo bucket is free to download the app.
