Feedback is very important for a writer. What are some things you've done in order to get feedback?

Let less than a hand full read my story chapter-by-chapter before and after some editing....

I never used to let anyone see my writing. But I joined a forum that had a section for writing, and slowly started posting some stuff for the other writers to read and comment. I learned *a lot* of good stuff from them before the site was painfully shut down without warning. Luckily, I was able to keep touch with a few of the people. I have a writing buddy, who has read most all of my work, except my really old stuff that is very, very cringe-worthy.

Another thing that I've done for feedback... it's kinda... I've posted stories on fanfiction.net... Yeah, I'm a geek, lol... But hear me out; I can get honest, unbiased feedback on my writing-- without risking any of my original ideas (as the universes and characters the stories are about are not my creations) It's been surprisingly helpful and I'll be honest, it's been a lot of fun too.

Jennifer (gwenhyver42) I started out with a friend I used to share my writing with, and they'd also send me some of theirs, but that kind of died out. Later on, I joined a forum and started sharing my work there, but that kind of died, too –– yet I gained a writing buddy from it. Said buddy has read more of my work than most people, and we've hashed out ideas for each others' stories for the past... year or more? And now, there's a new forum I share my work on. I also have a facebook page that I share excerpts on (without spoilers)...

I find that feedback and discussion can really feed the need for motivation, especially when people are saying, "I NEED MORE!"

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 2099 comments I'm writing a Lord of the Rings story on Goodreads in the Creative Writing section. The title is "But I want to be with him" and it's a Merry and Eowyn fanfiction (I know this pairing isn't common and never happened), but I wanted them to get together so I decided to write a story where Eowyn wants to get married to him. I like romantic love, so my chapters and writing include that. so if you think it's too mushy, I'm throwing out the apologies now :P Also, there's a brief scene of sensuality in the first chapter.

If you want to, please read it. I'd like to hear what you think.

The circle died in August, or September, I think... We started using fictionpress shortly thereafter.

And yeah, feedback is so motivating... It's addictive!

Jennifer (gwenhyver42) I didn't think to use a pen name, either.

I will use a pen, if I ever create one.
