Ballad discussion

I read Lament and I thought it was ok but I'm extremely skeptical about Ballad. Is it worth it?

I enjoyed it. It is different from Lament. What makes you skeptical about Ballad? Knowing that may help me recommend or not recommend it to you.

In my opinion, I thought this book was a lot better than Lament.

I much preferred Lament but I think I am one of the few that did...

I really liked Lament and then Hated this because Dee really get's left behind, it from James point of view and is really 'his' story.

I know some loved this book better than the first, but personally, I HATE and LOATHE it. Not because of Jame and Nuala, but Dee. We find out what happens to Dee and Luke, and it was so, SO disappointing. I have grown to care for them in Lament, and then THIS? Argg I was so frustrated!

I liked Lament and Ballad in different ways. I thought Lament was much more about love and romance - Luke and Dee just got straight into dating, whereas in Ballad relationships built up more slowly. I loved James's character (maybe because I can relate to him so much - his sense of humour is very like mine)and while Ballad was funny it was still magical and lyrical and sort of haunting.
