Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments It spans down forever, though there is an elevator that regulates the first 1,000 floors of it. These floors are full of demons and their servants, including Death's skeletons and such. Mammon is currently running this HQ, because why not. Also, higher-ranks aren't in presence. There is an old, constantly-threatening-to-break wooden staircase that goes down 200 floors that was in place before the elevator system. Guards at the entrance and exits of the stairs, but no one dares cover the stairs themselves. Also, it has minimal security because they doubt anyone stupid or desperate enough to go in that way could pose much of a threat, particularly if the stairs collapsed beneath them. It has magical, nonmagical, ambiguously magical, and other sorts of weaponry all over the place. There are monsters and whole chambers of arenas of continuous waves of monsters. Half of the hallways are rigged with enough traps to kill a cape buffalo.

Why not bypass the heaven confusion altogether and make the angels a tower that they control their earth operations from?
And Demons maybe a bottomless pit that has floors and everything. Negative first floor, negative second floor, they've built down to negative 1000 though. Should be fun to get everyone down, and I can involve Creo that way.

I think we've all agreed on the heaven idea, and I like it because its more complex. It's easy enough to understand, plus I can write a more in depth description for it.

I like the idea for te demons though, so I'm good with the whole
Negative floors idea.

Ramona blinked, finding herself in a rather dark place. She rubbed her eyes, and for a fleeting moment was upset she left her book. She walked a few steps, calling out for any sign of life as she did so.

message 5: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments A skeleton's upper torso sprung out of the ground in front of her.
"Sup?" he asked. It was not Death, but one of his minions tasked with guarding the perimeter. Death isn't too good at tasking people.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry. Had to go see the royal baby.))

((Also, Maniac? Have you read Homestuck? I think you should, because you kind of have the same sense of humor as the people who write it. I think you'd like it, as long as you can handle some swearing.))

Having some courage instilled into her, she smiled slightly. First impressions were everything.
"Um, some guy sent me here? I'm tasked with invading the hunters home base or something?" She explained, waving the slip of paper in front of the creature.

message 7: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments ((No I haven't.))

"I can't read, I don't have eyes. I don't know why you're here, the Hunter place is somewhere else. But I'll show you who you'll be reporting to."
He lifted himself out of the ground, revealing he didn't actually have anything below his spinal column. He moved about by swinging his spine forward, stabbing it into the ground in front of him, then swinging the rest of him forward to catch himself on his hands before repeating the process.

message 8: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments ))Have to go, be back soon.((

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Ramona followed, folding her hands in front of her whilst she walked. She was afraid if she kept them swinging out they would touch something unsavory.
Her eyes scanned back and forth throughout the dim place, trying to avoid eye contact with the freaky skeleton. Though she did find it amusing the way he moved himself around, and couldn't help but smile a bit. The smile felt horribly out of place.

message 10: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments The skeleton hopped/aped over to a bright blue ghost and bowed to him, which wasn't hard.
"This is Zaroonex. Bow to your master."
"Don't bow," Zaroonex told her.
"Why are you here?"

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

"Um, some dude sent me." She repeated, only then realizing how stupid she was for not asking his name. Hoping this ghost could see, she waved the slip of paper in front of him once more, feeling as though she was repeating the day all over again.
"I'm supposed to get into the Hunters' Home Base?" She added tentatively, hoping that would help.

message 12: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "Well, then I ask again. Why are you here?"
Zaroonex seemed utterly threatening at that moment, as though his eyes were fire. Shadows gathered around him.
"Go! Spy on the Hunters! Get out of here!"

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Ramona cast a pointed glare the at the seemingly crippled skeleton that led her here. On her way out, she made sure to give him a rough kick.
She didn't exactly know where to go, or how to get out of the place. She assumed she could find a less daft creature to let her out, or a more powerful yet nicer being than that Zaroonex character.
Feeling rather exposed, she shimmered away into nothingness, though she suspected some things would still be able to spot her.

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments ((Okay then... I guess you'll spy on the hunters when you feel like it.))

message 16: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments A mini-abyss opened up, and Fredrick lifted himself out of it, closing it behind him. Sebastian should be coming soon, hopefully with the others. A skeleton guard noticed him and ran to raise the alarm when Fredrick's knife fried its sentience away, just leaving a pile of bones. He'd wait right here, ready to storm the place on his own if they didn't come in about a minute.

message 17: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jasminethetallirishflower) Suddenly, Sabine found herself in a HQ of sorts. Her eyes blinked, trying to figure out where she was. Exactly what was this place? Sebastian stood by her side, and upon seeing Fredrick over a pile of bones, she found herself shuffling behind him. Wherever she was, she didn't like it. Something wasn't right. "How long do we have to stay here?" she whispered to Skyra and Sebastian, keeping her voice low so Fredrick wouldn't hear. She didn't want to show how nervous she was - he already thought that she was useless.

message 18: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments His keen ears picked up instantly, and he pointed across an area that looked like a landmine at an enormous abyss in the ground, with a tower leading downward, its walls clinging to one side. "Not long. We're going in there."
In there happened to be a death trap.

Fun!

message 19: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jasminethetallirishflower) Sabine looked to where Fredrick's finger was pointing (silently cursing herself for allowing him hear her), and felt her whole stomach drop. That tower was possibly the most un-friendliest place she had ever seen in her entire life. Holding her cane even tighter in her hands, making her knuckles white, she mumbled, "Why can't we go to happy places? Like a field full of bunnies and butterflies, or a nice little French cafe where they sell exotic bread."

message 20: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "All the assassins are at French cafes," Fredrick dismissed them with a wave of his hand. "And everything has chocolate in it." He'd had a minor scuffle in a French cafe that had ended with the cafe in hellflames. Along with the corpses of the assassins. And all of the chocolate.

Skyra felt queasy. Had she mentioned that she hated demon travel? Still having her sense of pride, she let go of Sebastian the minute the scenery had settled around her. Taking in her surroundings, a vile thought slithered into her mind, thanks to the hidden darkness in her that she was born with. Little perfect timing for him to die. Thank goodness the thought had been private as she snapped a glance at Fredrick's back before steadying herself.

"How enticing," Skyra drawled slowly. With a roll of her eyes that she managed to pull off like a royal, she crossed her arms. Clad in black, she almost blended in with the dark abyss.

message 22: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments Skyra, kill the Nephilim now and I will send you back home, Tesir promised. I will even help you fight off the hunters. All I want is to avoid a world where I can be reached, so why would I lie?

Fredrick Black, Tesir whispered to the Nephilim in question.
Bring me the Drake, and you will be paid back immensely.
There's nothing I want, Fredrick told him, bored.
The one who killed your son is coming back as a ghost, trying to take back a mortal form, Tesir began.
No. He can't. Fredrick.
We both know that's not true. His magic is strong, Black. I will tell where and when, bring the Drake, disabled. Complete your vengeance, Black. The wizard had no right to kill that boy, and you will remind him of that. I will give you his whereabouts, all I want is the drake.

Fredrick's eyes did not betray a shred of emotion, kept down by his calm, impassive exterior.
The murderer. Creo Black's murderer. Didn't deserve life at all, but he would get two of them?

Deal.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Sebastian gave Sabine a reassuring smile as he cast a glance behind himself, his eyes adjusting to the darkness of the location. He felt fairly at ease here; Sebastian found natural comfort in dark desolate places. It was only in his genes. Or whatever Demons had.
"Any special way to get into said death trap?" His deep voice resonated throughout the cavernous environment, and he took a few more steps forward to get a better look.

message 24: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "There's an old abandoned stairway. Parts of it are already falling off, and it could cave in beneath us," Fredrick responded, acting as though nothing had happened.
"There will be Lessers... Young Demons," Fredrick was too used to calling them Lessers from Belial's notes and, if he wanted to keep his allies, should work on that, "guarding the entrances and exits, but they don't take their job seriously. No one is insane enough to enter through the stairway."
At this point, David would have asked.
"We're going down the stairway, aren't we?"
"That's the way we're going," Fredrick actually said.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

"That's a very derogatory term." Sebastian stated quickly at Fredrick's second sentence. He didn't like the idea of other demons, and hoped they wouldn't encounter any up-close and personal.
"Alrighty, lead the way." He shoved his hands into his pockets, kicking at a few stray pebbles on the ground as he waited for any other comments.

message 26: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments There were boulders everywhere, looking as though this had been the site of a great battle with a lot of catapults and no one had gotten around to moving the boulders. It was behind the boulder nearest the stairway that Fredrick brought them, quietly observing the guard. There were two Le... Young Demons, looking very bored, at the head of the staircase.
Fredrick whispered for Seb to get his pistol out, getting his arrows ready.

Skyra ignored Tesir, her mind fixiated on what seemed to be a shining gemstone in the distance. There was something about the gleam that enticed her. She remembered him. Who she had been taught to hate but since that fated day, became her closest friend. Without knowing what she was doing, her eyes cold on the stone, she started forward to it

"Banshee, hold her down." Hopefully she could at least do that.
Skyra was both the worst and the most willing bait ever.

The darkness was doing something to her, mimicking a presence she craved for. Him. She needed her friend. "I need to get to him," she whispered, her eyes fixated on the slab of stone. They matched a vicious gleam she knew all too well.

message 30: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "You're not going to whoever that is, if I have to cut out your sinews to get you to hold still," Fredrick declared.
"Me and the Possessor will deal with this," he told Sabine. "Keep her here and out of trouble. Cut open her stomach if she tries to leave."
To the Lesser, he said, "you take the one on the right, I'll get the other. The signal is the left demon dropping dead."

message 31: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jasminethetallirishflower) Sabine's head whipped from Sebastian, to Fredrick, to Skyra, and repeated. Her heart hammered in her chest - this place was truly making her jumpy. She wasn't herself, and she wasn't shocked to see that Skyra was the same. However, she finally nodded at Fredrick (but knew she wouldn't hurt her), and went over to the Drake. "Skyra," she said, putting herself in front of her friend, her hand reaching out and holding her warm arm. She glanced behind her, trying to see what Skyra was seeing, but didn't see anything. "We need to stick together. You can see... whatever later."

message 32: by tara, The Golden Heir (new)

Skyra gritted her teeth as she was going to shove Fredrick aside till Sabine gripped her arm. Anger flashed in Skyra's cold eyes and she ripped her arm from her friend. Alas, she didn't go anywhere and instead, sat down, arms crossed. Skyra Ryder was a rather fastidious person to deal with at the moment.

Internally, Skyra had been embarrassed. Of course her friend wouldn't be here. He was back home, fighting the hunters with his own kin and hers. Taking a deep breath, Skyra pushed the thoughts aside. Her resolution was to focus on the task at hand. She flicked her hand toward the demons silently and whispered, "Carry on," to Fredrick rather rudely.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Sebastian nodded, bending his knees carefully and whipping out his weapon. He'd seen enough action films to know how to hold one in an awesome way, and had minimal training to know how to shoot.
Not to mention his second family gave him a BB gun for one of his vessel's birthdays. He stood his ground, mismatched eyes clearly focused on the left standing demon.

message 34: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments An arrow slammed into the throat of the left demon, pushing him over the edge. The inexperienced Lesser looked down after his comrade rather than sounding the bell.
But he didn't need to.
Predator was watching.
Predator was waiting.
You will not evade me again, Fredrick Black.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

He started at a fast pace towards the other demon, gun aimed at his head. Sebastian would get as close as possible before making the shot.
Roughly two yards away did the demon actually notice the other supernatural creature stalking towards him. He made a move to expel himself from the current vessel he was residing, black smoke seeping out through his mouth. Sebastian raised his right hand, and it seemed as though he was forcing the demon back into it's vessel. The demon was successfully locked back into the human for a mere seconds, giving Sebastian enough time to fire his pistol. He had aimed for the head.
Obviously, the body collapsed, a small bloody wound residing on it's forehead. Sebastian looked towards Fredrick for further instruction, returning his free hand to his gun.

message 36: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "Kick it over the edge," Fredrick said simply. The Abyss had certain magical properties, and no magic could be used while free-falling down it. Wounded demons would be unable to heal their wounds or command their forms and eventually degrade into nothing, if they were Lessers. Ancients... Different.

Fredrick put a foot on the first step, gingerly placed a bit of weight on it, and finally put both feet on the step. The wood creaked, as though ready to snap, and it shook as though it couldn't take his weight at all.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

He raised an eyebrow, but shrugged. He didn't exactly kick the creature over the edge though. It was his own kind. Kicking would leave a bad taste in his mouth, besides, Sebastian had some pride left over. Tucking his weapon in the waistband of his jeans, he picked up the body with both hands before gingerly dropping it over the edge. He didn't feel that comfortable killing his own kind, and what he had done just began to settle in. He didn't say anything out loud, instead he just swallowed before clearing his throat.
"U-um, Fredrick?" He whispered, his gun now secure in his hands.
"How come Sabine and Skyra aren't with us? They're perfectly capable. I mean, they both fight better than me for Christ's sake."

message 38: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "Skyra is proving to be a massive liability. They'll be safe, assuming the banshee can keep her from doing anything stupid." Gingerly, the Nephilim managed to get down the first seven steps to the first platform. He was about to step onto the second set of steps when lightning bolts shot at them. One of them actually would have hit Fredrick squarely in the chest, but he had drawn Blacksblade and pointed it into the approaching bolt, which stopped when it hit Blacksblade's base and turned toward the tip, blasting the original firer of the bolt.
For lo! There were a dozen (eleven now) archers, whose arrows were not arrows, but miniature bolts which formed real (albeit very straight) lightning bolts when released.
"They're a great deal safer than we are." Fredrick added.
Predator. Or Fear. Or Mammon. Maybe Death. Possibly... Fredrick ran through his extensive list of demon enemies and decided it didn't matter.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

"Holy shit. Dude, you didn't prepare me for this crap!" Sebastian accused, pointing and firing his gun without aiming. He suddenly wished he had chosen a military tank as his own form of arms.
Why, yes, one could easily say Sebastian was in fact shitting his pants at this moment. Forget the identity crises after killing one of his own, he was about to get roasted by lightning. Lightening.
"You sure you don't want to have a million-foot tall screaming banshee right now sir?" He yelled, still shooting his weapon. Come to think of it, he wasn't sure how much ammo he had. Knowing Fredrick, he could only hope he had infinity.

message 40: by Kendra (last edited Sep 28, 2013 05:24PM) (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "There are only eleven," Fredrick would have groaned had he been completely different. Inexperienced Lesser.
Fredrick grabbed the Lesser's arm and tossed him down two flights of stairs, landing him on a platform in between a few flights, out of range of the archers for a time. Fredrick then leapt after him, pretty sure that the support beam for that particular platform would snap.
It did, and the platform they were on began to fall, dragging the top three flights with it.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

"I swear to God you're crazy!" Sebastian officially hated this. He held on for dear life, although a fall wouldn't hurt him in the least. No one liked the feeling of their stomach dropping without warning. Unless you're at a theme park. Sebastian liked those. Not this, though.
In the act of being tossed, his gun had flown out of his hands, going down, down, down. Sebastian couldn't see it, and he groaned as he realized he'd probably have to rely on his "natural" combat skills. Unless Fredrick had another brilliant idea. Those he seems to lack. He thought darkly.

message 42: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments ((Wow. He's really ungrateful. Compared to when they first met, this is like a hug.))
"Would you move?" He should have done this solo. Now he had to protect the liability the whole way. Throwing Sebastian onto the next platform, Fredrick dropped onto the one below him as the first three flights fell down the abyss.

"I need flying troops!" Predator announced in the going-down tower.
"I'll distract them," Fear offered.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

((He doesn't exactly like situations that put his own life at risk.))

"Stop throwing me!" He whined as he landed harshly on the next platform. His vessel only had a bloody nose, but Sebastian was pissed. He thought all he had to do was shoot the right demon. That was something within his capacity.

message 44: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (madamejade) | 1693 comments "Stop laying still!" the frustrated Nephilim responded.
"Come on down here. If you don't jump, the wood should hold us."
And then in Sabastian's way there was a memory. A memory of the future, injecting into his mind what felt like was really happening.
Tesir, hidden in a network of portals, waited for the Nephilim to show. And lo and behold, through one of the golden portals strode Fredrick, an unconscious Skyra slung over his shoulder.
"As agreed," the half-demon told the demon, tossing the drake ahead of him.

Skyra meanwhile was staring at Helen in a stupid state contest. She decided that if they were foolish enough to go in without her assistance, she might as well past time. Jasmine (jasminethetallirishflower) ((Do you mean Sabine instead of Helen, Tarra? And sorry, I'm currently re-doing Sabine's sheet.))

Sabine head whirled around her, hearing Fredrick and Sebastian's battle, her cane tight in her hands. She twisted the snake-handle and unsheathed the sword, the metal giving a soft clang as it was drawn. As she did this, she changed into her banshee form. For some reason, her cheeks seemed more hallow, her skin paler, and her expression darker. This place was truly putting her out of character. "Get up," she told Skyra coldly. "I think something's coming. And we need to be prepared." Her eyes drifted to where the other two went, and prepared herself for whatever might come.
