Please let me know how you like it! I'll have to read the Swiss Family, I know it's a classic :-)By the way, I also loved Robinson Crusoe!

The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket
I read "In the Heart of the Sea" LOVED it! Highly recommended (but it gets a bit gross sometimes, ha!ha!)I also loved Lord of the Flies - and I knew someone who knew the author (brushed with fame...)
However, the Poe book is news to me, I'll have to look that one up.
In my book, I have pirates try to commandeer a boat being used as transit for my soldiers of fortune and they meet an unfortunate and untimely end, leading to the mercenaries setting the pirate ship asail to shipwreck on a deserted island in the Red Sea where the local bird population picks apart their lifeless bodies.
There is something so interesting about being shipwrecked and trying to recreate a somewhat reasonable existence. I also find it really interesting when it goes wrong like Lord of the Flies. Some good suggestions here.

Island of the Lost: Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World
Strange that I didn't see it on the "Shipwreck" shelf on this site. It's a true story and a real page turner.
