S.A. (suerule) | 3 comments I am reading A Web of Murder by Yvonne Hughes. A fast-paced and entertaining crime story with an engaging and believable team of characters.

Yvonne is a member of the group UK Independent Authors (http://www.ukindependentauthors.co.uk) and will be taking part in our first Book Fair in Edenbridge, Kent on Saturday 23rd May.

Any UK Good Readers within striking distance of West Kent are very welcome to come along. It's an event put on by people who love to write for people who love to read.

Sue

Can't be that entertaining, if it's taking you three months to finish it!

So you find it acceptable to post snide comments on my personal life, but not for me to promote my books. Interesting.

I have a full time job as a company director. I am a musician and event organiser. I have a family, a home and a garden. And I'm writing a book.

I don't have as much time for reading as I would like.

I've just finished A Web of Murder, if you can be bothered to actually be interested in the books rather than in personal abuse.

Stephen Theaker (rolnikov) Personal abuse? It's a comment on the book - if you start a 240pp book in February or March and you still haven't finished it by May it clearly wasn't all that exciting.

S.A. (suerule) | 3 comments Your reading habits are very different to mine. The number of books I pick up and never bother to finish is now legion. When I finish a book, it was a good 'un. A Web of Murder is a fast-paced and entertaining read that a person with a normal lifestyle would probably zip through in a day or two.

This group is about what we're currently reading, I didn't realise it was a competition to read the most books in the shortest space of time, or I wouldn't have joined it.

A Web of Murder is a well constructed and entertaining crime story featuring a cast of well-drawn and believable characters. I like Yvonne's portrayal of teamwork in the police, and the accuracy of the "gallows humour" that glues the team together. Sometimes Yvonne's writing style jars with me, but mostly it delivers the fast-faced zest that this kind of tale needs.

Yvonne and I do (now) know each other personally, because we are both authors based in Kent, UK. But if I didn't rate Yvonne's books, I would not review or recommend them. In fact, as stated above, I wouldn't bother to read them, and I never post a review of something I have not read.
