Challenges for 2020 and coming years!1. Read the series "Fortune de France" by Robert Merle
I started reading this more than a few times, but never got to finishing it and I can't see why, as it is beautifully written and very much fun to read! I don't think it was translated to English because there is an "invented" vocabulary which simulates ancient language in the South of France in the 1500's. That could not be translated and a lot of the beauty of the writing would be lost without it.
There are 13 volumes and then... the author died, so I'm not sure the story really ends!
2022: Actually, I just read an article about the author and it looks like he hated Louis XIV (14th) and said he would never write a book about him. The last book of the series ends with "La Fronde" when he was a child and Merle had no intention of going forward with another book. So that's it!
