As Meltinguncle suggested, it could be really useful for us to pick a single page (or even paragraph) and dissect it together. Any nominations?

Catherine (metafiltersbrwife) | 31 comments Still stuck about 40 pages behind this week's pages, so nope, not right now. I'll read whatever you folks decide to talk about with interest when I get there.

Melting Uncle (meltinguncle) | 13 comments I really enjoyed the "Mookse and the Gripes" part. Flipping through my book, I see I made a lot of markings on pages 152-153, where the fable begins. I'll try to type up my interpretation/notes later tonight.

I'm curious if anybody is using the Skeleton Key by Joseph Campbell? I have only just glanced at it.

Carol (clerner2) I would be happy to discuss a page in detail. I have joined a FW group here in Philly that meets once a month to discuss just three pages. This month it is 147-149 so I am right in place!

Carol (clerner2) Meltinguncle - I was reading Skeleton Key before I began each chapter. That is, until Chapter 6 when I ceased to find it very useful. Skeleton Key translates the puns, but still just tells the story with no background. Now I am finding the Tindall book more useful before each chapter, and Annotations when I am really stuck in the chapter. And when I am on a bus or beach and cannot lug around all these books, I am reading Riverrun to Livvy by Bill Cole Cliett. It is a lighthearted look at the first page of FW that is a nice distraction without being too distracting. In keeping with the spirit of the Summer of the Wake.

ha!

Catherine (metafiltersbrwife) | 31 comments Love this! I read by recognizing the shapes of words, I've realized -- also how I spot misspellings -- and so reading this book reduces me to an incredibly slow pace. It is good to know that spellcheck agrees with my reading brain!

Melting Uncle (meltinguncle) | 13 comments Sorry, I have not had a chance to type up some notes like I would like to!

I did run across this site which I really like-
http://www.finneganswake.info/

The 2nd section has some great pictures of areas in Europe that figure into FW. The 3rd section has some REALLY useful plot/narrative summary. I read the "Shem the Penman" summary and it was really helpful/cool.
